Madonna Madame X tour: Star cancels first London show
Saturday, 25 January 2020
The star had been due to begin a run of 15 dates at the London Palladium from this Monday.
In a statement, the singer said she had been 'plagued' by injuries since the beginning of the tour and was told by doctors to 'rest for a few days'.
She added that refunds would be given to those who had bought tickets for Monday's performance.
Madonna's Wednesday show will still take place as scheduled.
'I am deeply sorry that I have to cancel my concert scheduled for Monday 27 January in London. Under doctors' guidance I have been told to rest for a few days. As you all know I have injuries that have plagued me since the beginning of the tour but I must always listen to my body and put my health first. The last thing I want to do is disappoint my fans or compromise the integrity of my show. So I will keep going until I cannot.'

Another point I was going to mention is the fact that the tickets haven't even yet been released onto mobile phones by Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster says ,"The event organisers are still working with us on a few final details before we can make your tickets available" - what are those final details? Announcing that showtime is not 20:30 as was the case when originally booking the tickets? It all seems very odd indeed.

What a disaster and a fiasco the Madame X Tour has been. Now I know Madonna cannot help being injured but surely the tour should just be cancelled, rather than turn it into what it has become for the fans - a lucky-dip of whether she will perform or not. I have tickets for this Saturday but, if she does perform on Wednesday and Thursday, then I don't hold out much hope for the Saturday concert taking place. I hope I am wrong, of course. That said, with the sky-high prices I paid for the tickets, if it is cancelled then I will be able to have a full holiday with the refund!
