Book: Richard Corman's 'Madonna 66'

When you think of Madonna, it’s probably hard to remember a time when she wasn’t the icon we’ve all grown to know. But, back in the early 1980s, she was simply a twentysomething getting by in New York, having moved from her hometown of Detroit, trying to find her place in the music industry and get her foot in the door.

Boasting 66 unpublished polaroid images of Madonna, all shot on Friday 17th June 1983, a new limited edition book aptly titled Madonna 66 is out now and shows a new side of Madonna, basically before she was ‘Madonna’.

That year, a 24-year-old Madonna was cast to star in a modern day movie of Cinderella by Cis Corman, a well-known and established casting director and producer, who happened to have a photographer son.

Upon meeting Madonna, Cis immediately got in touch with her son, Richard, to tell him he had to drop everything and photograph this unknown actress/singer who was about to take the lead in the New York City fable, Cinde Rella, that she was casting. Cis instantly saw something in Madonna that told her this woman was going to be a superstar.

And, although the satirical Cinde Rella never actually came to be, Richard spent the day photographing Madonna in five different set ups inside her brother’s house in Manhattan as test shots for the film. It’s no surprise that Madonna insisted on doing her own styling, complete with vintage bohemian clothes, and make-up and it was her charisma, as well as her beauty, that told the industry pair that this woman was indeed something special. The pictures were shot in her brother Christopher's apartment.

Limited Edition 500 copies of Madonna 66 by Richard Corman are available for £100 at madonna66.com

Madonna Spends Thanksgiving With Homeless LGBT Youth: 'Everyone Deserves to Be Loved'

Madonna knows the power of love, which she demonstrated on Thursday, when she paid a visit to homeless LGBT youth at a New York City shelter.

The 58-year-old pop icon brought her rebel heart to the children and teens at Brooklyn's Ali Forney Center for Thanksgiving, documenting her random act of kindness in an Instagram pic posted on Friday.

'Had so much fun sharing Thanksgiving at the Ali Forney Center in Brooklyn!' Madonna wrote, explaining that the center is an empowering safe haven for LGBT youth. Named after a gender non-conforming teen who fled his home at age 13, the center cares for more than 1,200 youth who face rejection from their family for their identity.

The center's motivation, she wrote, simply, is 'because everyone deserves to be loved and everyone deserves a home.'

Madonna stands by son Rocco Ritchie after reported arrest

Madonna says she is supporting son Rocco Ritchie after reports surfaced Wednesday that the 16-year-old was arrested for possession of marijuana in London.

Madonna released a statement to The Associated Press Wednesday calling the September arrest 'a family matter.'

She said: 'I love my son very much. I will do whatever I can to give him the support that he needs, and I ask that you respect our privacy at this time.'

Rocco was the subject of a months-long custody dispute between Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie. The couple divorced in 2008. They finally agreed in September to allow Rocco to continue living with his father in London.

According to a report in The Sun newspaper, Rocco was arrested on Sept. 28.

Madonna and more celebrities join NYC anti-Trump protests

Star power fueled a handful of New York City anti-Donald Trump protests.

Madonna, Mark Ruffalo, T.I., Meek Mill and Taran Killam were among the famous faces who found themselves in the midst of New York City 'Love Trumps Hate' protests on Wednesday night.

Thousands turned out across cities like New York, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Austin and Atlanta to express that they wouldn't buy into the hate that President-elect Trump represents.

Nearly 10,000 protesters marched down Fifth Ave. holding signs that read 'Donald Trump's Victory Doesn't Speak for Me,' 'Wall St. Is The Enemy, Not Muslims or Immigrants,' and 'Liberty For All Americans, Not Hate.'

Madonna - an outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter - shared a video of marchers chanting 'Not My President,' with the caption: 'Need to Turn these Words into Action..........So Now What? Us Rebel <3's Unite. N.Y.C. Start A Revolution of <3. Do Not Lose Hope! We will Rise Up! We will Shatter that Glass Ceiling. Do Not Give into Fear. This is the Reality of our collective consciousness. Now more than ever we need to take responsibility!'

Madonna Performs Acoustic Set at NYC Park to Support Clinton

The singer held an impromptu performance at New York City’s Washington Square Park on Monday night, just one day before the election. Madonna, who first announced the intimate acoustic concert on social media Friday, was surrounded by hundreds of fans as she strummed her guitar next to 11-year-old son David and her guitarist Monte Pittman.

During the 30-minute gig, the 58-year-old Madge sung her hits like 'Like a Prayer,' 'Don’t Tell Me,' 'Express Yourself' and 'Rebel Heart' along with an emotional cover of John Lennon’s 'Imagine.'

In addition to her five-song set list, Madonna delivered a speech as to why she’s supporting the Democratic nominee.

'This is a concert about unifying us, and it’s about keeping America great, not making America great,' she told the crowd. 'This is a concert about peace, and we are trying to elect - we are going to elect - a president that is going to keep America the great country that it is and has the potential to be.'

While Madonna was in N.Y.C., Clinton was in Philadelphia for a rally at Independence Hall attended by President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, daughter Chelsea Clinton and husband, former President Bill Clinton.

Madonna to play surprise acoustic gig for Hillary Clinton

Madonna has announced she will be playing a last-minute acoustic gig next week in support of Hillary Clinton.

The surprise show will take place in New York City this Monday (November 7), on the eve of the election.

'Bitches Are You In My Gang???' the singer wrote an Instagram post. 'Doing a surprise intimate very small acoustic concert Monday night in support of Hillary. Stay tuned!'

She has yet to announce the gig’s venue or a stage time for her performance.

Madonna endorsed Clinton earlier in the Presidential campaign and showed her support for the Democrat when she introduced Amy Schumer at her recent NYC stand-up gig.

She previously followed Katy Perry’s lead by posting a nude photo on social media to show her support for Clinton.

'Living For Hilary!,' she wrote. 'Yes I vote for intelligence. I vote for equal rights for women and all minorities.'

'She’s the Best we got!' Madonna added. The Presidential election takes place on Tuesday (November 8).
