Madonna Angers Locals With Tree Planting

Pop icon Madonna has outraged locals near her home in The Hamptons, New York by planting trees on the estate amid allegations she is building a wall of foliage to protect her privacy.

The Material Girl hitmaker purchased the eight-bedroom mansion and its 24 acres of surrounding land in Bridgehampton for $2.2 million (£1.4 million) on the promise the fields could not be built on and would be used for growing agricultural products.

Pictures obtained by the New York Post show Madonna has now begun creating a tree nursery on the property after planning permission was approved last year.

However, the move has angered locals who are convinced she is using the trees to protect her privacy and to receive tax breaks entitled to farmers in the area.

East Hampton farmer John White tells the publication, 'That's not a nursery... She just doesn't want people to see her riding (a horse) - and falling.'

Madonna cracked three ribs and broke her collarbone after falling from a horse at her country estate in England in 2005.

Madonna Returns to Hot 100 With 'Bitch I'm Madonna'

The song, featuring Nicki Minaj, bows at No. 84, bringing Madonna back to the chart for the first time since 2012. Her Madgesty is back on the Billboard Hot 100. Madonna's playfully self-celebratory 'Bitch I'm Madonna,' featuring Nicki Minaj, debuts on the Hot 100 (dated July 4) at No. 84, powered most heavily by its 1,454 percent gain to 2.6 million U.S. streams in the week ending June 21, according to Nielsen Music. The song's official video premiered June 17 (first exclusively on Tidal for 24 hours) and includes cameos by Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Chris Rock, Kanye West and other stars.

The third single from Madonna's album Rebel Heart becomes the set's first Hot 100 hit, preventing the LP from becoming her first studio album not to generate a Hot 100 entry. Lead single 'Living for Love' and follow-up 'Ghosttown' both fell shy of the list. Still, both songs crowned the Dance Club Songs chart, with the latter becoming her 45th No. 1 on the survey and rewriting the record for the most leaders an artist has notched on any Billboard ranking. ('Bitch' debuts at No. 26 on Dance Club Songs this week.)

'Bitch' arrives as Madonna's 57th Hot 100 hit and first since 'Give Me All Your Luvin'' (also featuring Minaj, as well as M.I.A.) became her record-extending 38th top 10 in 2012. The Beatles follow with 34 Hot 100 top 10s.

Madonna’s longtime publicist set to retire

Madonna relied on her, so did Cher.

Now, ever-quotable p.r. queen Liz Rosenberg exclusively tells us she’s abdicating her throne to retire.

'I think two centuries is long enough, don’t you?' quipped Rosenberg, who’s also repped Michael Bublé and Stevie Nicks and worked with Prince, Rod Stewart, Carly Simon and Ashford & Simpson.

Madonna portrayed her on 'SNL' in 1992 - 'the good ol’ days,' Rosenberg recalled.

She launched Liz Rosenberg Media in 2010 after nearly 40 years at Warner Bros. Records.

'It reminds me not to take it all too seriously,' Rosenberg said of her look - regularly wearing bunny ears on starry red carpets.

She’s looking forward to an extended break, but, 'I’m going to consult, advise and protect my peeps from the likes of Page Six forever. I love them too much to do otherwise,' she said. 'On a serious note, these people are part of my family. I could never step away completely. I envision myself like Sue Mengers, doing my work from a round bed with a lot of lip-shaped pillows.'

Her firm’s logo was a pair of lips - with a trace of smudged lipstick.

Amy Schumer Opens Up About Opening for Madonna

For a huge Madonna fan like Amy Schumer, opening up for the Queen of Pop is a dream come true.

The comedian, who’ll be doing her stand-up act at Madonna’s New York shows this September, told Entertainment Weekly, 'There is no one in the world I’d want to open for more.'

'It was the craziest thing,' she said of getting the gig. 'Chris Rock called me a couple of months ago and was like, ‘Madonna wants your phone number.’ I’m like, I can’t believe you have my phone number!'

Schumer added that she immediately jumped at the chance.

'My answer was 'Of course!'' she said. 'There is no one in the world I’d want to open for more. I was just jumping up and down and called all my girlfriends from high school.'

While she admitted it might be tough opening for such a massive star, the 'Inside Amy Schumer' star is taking it all in stride.

'I’m just excited to be close up to the stage and scream-sing her songs,' she said.

Schumer will join Madonna for her three New York City shows: two at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan on September 16 and 17, and one at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on September 19. Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour kicks off September 9 in Montreal.

Amy Schumer to open Madonna's New York shows

When little Amy Schumer sang along to Madonna’s Like A Virgin as a young girl, she could hardly have known she would one day open for Madge herself.

Amy, star of sketch show Inside Amy Schumer, will be the opening act for the Queen of Pop at three shows in New York in September.

And she revealed the news by sharing a home video clip of herself as a little girl, performing the 1985 hit song Like A Virgin to camera. She asked her followers: 'Guess who auditioned for @Madonna and got the part? See you in NYC on Sept 16, 17 and 19.'

The comedian, who has recently starred in Trainwreck, will most likely perform jokes rather than any classic hits.

Madonna released the video for her new single, Bitch I’m Madonna, on Tidal on June 17 and elsewhere Thursday.

Madonna expressed her excitement at Amy’s involvement, joking that she hoped people would stay and watch her own performance afterwards: 'I'm shaking with excitement that @AmySchumer is opening up for me in New York! I hope people will stay after & watch my show!! #RebelHeartTour'

Madonna brings star power, children to new video

Madonna has brought out some of the biggest fellow names in pop - and two of her children - in a new video she debuted Wednesday on the fledgling streaming service Tidal.

Beyonce, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Kanye West all make cameo appearances in the video for 'Bitch, I'm Madonna,' off her latest album 'Rebel Heart.'

Madonna released the video initially on Tidal, where it will appear exclusively for one day before wider distribution.

But a number of users reported technical problems, saying that the video froze up when they first tried to watch.

'We apologize to all the fans excited to watch the #BitchImMadonna video, we're working on a fix,' said a Tidal message on Twitter before later reporting smoother streaming.

Tidal - led by rap mogul Jay-Z with participation of Madonna and other stars - has promoted exclusives in a bid to win subscribers.

But despite a splashy launch on March 30, Tidal trails more established players in the growing field of streaming, led by Spotify.

The video - which also features hip-hop star Nicki Minaj, who collaborated on the song originally - depicts a party atmosphere and was shot at the Standard High Line, a hotel in New York's Meatpacking District known for its nightclub with a jacuzzi overlooking the city.

'Bitch, I'm Madonna' also includes rare appearances by two of the Material Girl's four children, 14-year-old Rocco and nine-year-old David.

Cyndi signs as Madonna for fans

Cyndi Lauper has revealed she has signed autographs as Madonna, when fans have mistaken her for her pop rival.

The Girls Just Want To Have Fun singer appears on tonight's Graham Norton Show, where fellow guest Mark Wahlberg discussed how he has come to see the funny side of being so often confused with fellow actor Matt Damon.

Lauper, who has a very distinctive, high-pitched New York accent, said: 'It happens to me once in a while. I just sign Madonna. I don't care and as long as I don't talk I get away with it.'

The Time After Time singer and Madonna were pitted against each other as pop rivals during the 1980s.

Lauper and Wahlberg are joined on Norton's red sofa by Family Guy and Ted creator Seth MacFarlane and presenter Dara O Briain.

The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC1 at 10.35pm.

Rita Ora teases star-studded Madonna video

Rita Ora has spoken about Madonna's highly anticipated new video.

The singer is due to premiere her 'Bitch, I’m Madonna' clip soon and it will feature the likes of Beyoncé and Katy Perry.

Another star set to make an appearance is Rita Ora, who previously modelled Madonna's Material Girl line.

Speaking to On Demand Entertainment, the 'Hot Right Now' star said that she was under strict orders not to divulge details of the video.

Ora said: 'She’s the queen! Well for me there’s two, there’s Beyoncé and then there’s Madonna. I did her Material Girl campaign a few years ago. So when I first met her I couldn’t feel my feet, but she’s one of the nicest, coolest, most work-driven people I’ve ever met.'

'To be a part of this kind of video it’s awesome. [I won't reveal any details because] I do not want Queen Madge coming up to me and telling me off!'

Avicii Reveals Butting Heads With Madonna, But Denies Dissing Her

In a new interview with the U.K. S Daily Star, the 25-year-old deejay and music producer Avicii recalls butting heads with the 56-year-old 'Living for Love' singer when they worked on the track together months and months ago.

'At the beginning we were all on the same page and then...I wasn't....happy with the final product,' he said.

Avicii's version of the song leaked early. He says he still prefers his version over the final cut Madonna eventually released. 'I thought it was better. It was more me,' he said.

Despite butting heads, Avicii isn't on a mission to diss the Queen of Pop. After the Daily Star published their article with the original headline 'Madonna ruined my track: Avicii slams the Queen of Pop,' the deejay quickly took to social media to blast the tabloid

And it worked! The site softened their headline to 'LISTEN: ‘My demos were better' Hear Avicii on Madonna's latest album.' Avicii thanked the Daily Star for correcting their story. 'Thank you @daily_star for correcting the headline - and rest of article - after hearing the actual audio recording of the interview!' he wrote on Instagram.

Good to know there's no bad blood here.

Meanwhile, Avicii did reveal to the Daily Star who he would like to work with next. 'I'd love to work with Adele and Rihanna,' he said. 'I'm super excited for Rihanna's record, I haven't heard any of it yet either. She is one of the most talented artists of our time.'

Disclosure on Madonna collaboration plans: 'We didn't get our hopes up'

Disclosure have addressed the reason why their potential collaboration with Madonna failed to surface.

Rumours began last year that the British dance duo were working with the pop star after Madonna posted a picture of herself with the pair backstage at the Governors Ball festival in New York during June 2014. While Disclosure denied that they were producing Madonna's next album ('Rebel Heart', which was released in March), they didn't at the time rule out a potential collaboration with the singer in the future.

Now, speaking to NME in this week's issue, available digitally and on newsstands now, the electronic duo explained that they 'did discuss maybe working together' but '[we] never really got our hopes up'.

'We never really had any indication that we were going to be working together,' Howard Lawrence said. 'We met her and hung out and she's a lovely person and she's a fan - and I mean, who's not a fan of Madonna? We did discuss maybe working together one day but we never tried to put dates in or anything like that. But I wouldn't say we were disappointed because we never really got our hopes up.'
