Madonna Was Nearly Arrested 25 Years Ago Today

Anyone who's watched Madonna's revealing 1991 documentary Truth or Dare remembers the unforgettable scene where Madonna, despite warnings of arrest from local police, simulates masturbation while singing 'Like a Virgin' on her Blond Ambition Tour.

Today, we celebrate the 25th anniversary of that unusual Canadian controversy.

On May 29, 1990, Madonna was preparing to take the stage for the third night at Toronto's SkyDome on her Blond Ambition Tour. Right around that time, her crew received a visit from officers who threatened to arrest the Queen of Pop for her salacious onstage simulation. Christopher Ciccone, who was assisting his sister on tour at the time, relayed the message to Madonna, explaining 'a representative from the D.A.'s office' was worried about her 'immoral live performance.'

Her response? 'I’m not changing my fucking show.'

First Five Dates of Rebel Heart Tour Rescheduled

The opening night of Madonna's Rebel Heart Tour, one of 2015's most highly anticipated shows, has been moved to Wednesday, September 9th in Montreal's Bell Centre. Dates originally scheduled for Miami, Atlanta and San Juan, PR have been moved to January 2016. As confirmed by Live Nation, Madonna's global tour promoter, tickets for previously announced Rebel Heart dates in each of these cities will be honored for newly scheduled dates.

'As my fans already know, the show has to be perfect. Assembling all the elements will require more time than we realized. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause my fans. I can promise you this show will be worth the wait. Can't wait to share it with all my Rebel Hearts out there.' commented Madonna.

Madonna moves into her Bridgehampton mansion

Madonna has finally moved into her new-construction Bridgehampton mansion on Mitchells Lane, which is beside the horse farm she bought from Kelly Klein.

The pop songstress will be ensconced there for the summer. The estate comes with a pool and spa.

'Madonna has already been out here on weekends, riding her horses on her 58 acres,' a spy says. But don’t expect to see her hanging out at Candy Kitchen or any of the fancier joints in town. 'She never goes out. She’s so happy in her house that she never leaves,' the spy said.

Madonna's Hard Candy Fitness Expands Into Licensing

Madonna is expanding her Hard Candy Fitness empire with a new merchandising deal.

The Material Girl hitmaker has eight boutique gym locations around the world and she is now partnering up with her manager Guy Oseary and bosses at New Evolution Ventures and Epic Rights to expand the brand into retail products, according to Billboard.com.

Head of Epic Rights' Celebrity & Lifestyle division Dan Levin says, 'We wanted to bring the brand to the public so if they never have a chance to join a Hard Candy Fitness club, you can still experience the Hard Candy Fitness workout wherever you are, and have the best-in-class tools. As Madonna is to music, pop culture and fashion, we believe Hard Candy Fitness will be the preeminent symbol for a fit, healthy and luxury-infused lifestyle.'

Epic Rights will reveal more details to potential partners at the 2015 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas June 9 to 11.

The singer is also looking to expand her fitness centres into Asia and the U.S. in 2016.

25 Years Ago Today, Madonna Was in 'Vogue' atop Hot 100

One of Madonna's biggest hits - the 1990 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 dance anthem 'Vogue' - had surprisingly humble beginnings. 'The whole thing was done on a shoestring budget,' says Shep Pettibone, the track's co-writer and producer.

Allotted just $5,000 by Warner Bros. Records to create what was initially slated as a B-side, he finished the song in three weeks, recording the then-31-year-old pop star's vocals in a 'basement on West 56th Street' in New York, where, he says, a closet had been converted into a vocal booth.

Released as an A-side, 'Vogue' topped the Hot 100 on May 19, 1990. Madonna and Pettibone also collaborated on the singer's 1992 No. 1 ballad, 'This Used to Be My Playground,' but Pettibone left the music business in the late '90s and now owns The Empress Hotel and Paradise Nightclub in Asbury Park, N.J.

Rita Ora and Madonna have filmed a secret music video together. The 24-year-old singer flew into New York Friday night to meet up with the 56-year-old superstar for the shoot, after the two had a 'real connection' when they met at various showbiz events.

A source told The Sun newspaper: 'It's an incredible coup for Rita to do a vid with Madonna and shows how big she is becoming in the States. They met at showbiz events but had a real connection so Madonna asked her to do it. Rita changed her schedule to be able to do it in an instant.'

The two stars bonded when Rita defended Madonna over the abuse she was receiving for grabbing Drake and kissing him onstage at Coachella Music Festival.

At the time, the 'How We Do' singer posted a picture of Madonna practically naked in a '90s photoshoot on Instagram, and wrote: 'Thank you for fighting all these ageist battles and paving a way, that maybe just one day, all of us 'Younger' artists won't have too in the future! @madonna #ifuckinlovethisbitch #thatshwhatlegendsdo (sic)'.

The 'Vogue' star then took to her Instagram page to thank Rita for her support.

The Queen of Pop is now unequaled chart royalty. Madonna makes momentous Billboard chart history, as she now has the most No. 1s ever, 45, by an act on a singular Billboard chart. She earns her 45th No. 1 on Dance Club Songs, where 'Ghosttown' lifts 3-1.

With the coronation, Madonna passes another icon, George Strait, who's logged 44 No. 1s on Hot Country Songs.

Madonna bests Strait (still, and always, the King of Country), who's sent 44 singles to No. 1 on Hot Country Songs between 1982 and 2009. He first reigned with 'Fool Hearted Memory' (Aug. 28, 1982) and most recently ruled with 'River of Love' (April 18, 2009).

Madonna’s Met Ball Dress Had a Special Meaning

In the 1991 documentary Truth or Dare, Madonna dedicated a concert to her longtime friend Keith Haring, who died of AIDS the year before. Tonight - on what would have been his 57th birthday - the queen of pop culture remembered the visionary artist again.

'Part of why she was wearing our graffiti dress was to honor Keith,' said Jeremy Scott, the Moschino creative director who collaborated with the superstar for the Met Gala. 'We custom-made her gown to say Rebel Heart - and it’s definitely fitting to wear it while celebrating him.'

I praise Madonna a lot. I know that annoys some of you. Sorry! But I’ve also laced that praise with criticism, or at least my idea of what she might do, or say (or not say) or wear. I admire the fact that she has never taken my advice. Or anyone’s. She has traveled to the beat of her own techno-music.

But sometimes she’s perfect. I do mean her appearance at the massive Met Fashion Gala the other night in NYC. There she was, with long straight hair (gone are the overworked waves), beautiful makeup, and a stylish, whimsical, subtly sexy black gown by the designer Moschino. (Well, it was more subtle than a lot of what The Big M wears. It was certainly more subtle than Beyonce's get-up.) Totally appropriate for the pop goddess she is, and always will be. (Haters, listen up - even if she never has another No. 1 hit, she’ll always be the Queen. Accept that.)

When I saw the photos I wanted to reach in, hand her a microphone and say, 'Sing out, Madonna Louise Ciccone - croon those ballads. Do your Dietrich!' Well, that’s my fantasy and problem. It will never be Madonna’s reality. But I am satisfied she looked like this for the Met event. She also looked like she was having fun. (Still rare for this workaholic.)

People - even so-called 'fans' - often say she’s desperate to stay in touch with the youth culture. I think she simply enjoys composing and performing edgy material. She likes collaborating with young people. I believe she enjoys the music she makes. If she was 'desperate' for a certain kind of approbation, she’d work on an album of standards. Or a 'Duets' disc. Not. Going. To. Happen.

Privately, as a woman, she has changed. As an artist? Same as 1983. And if you can’t see it, you don’t know your Madonna.

Madonna and Katy Perry rocked matching Moschino gowns at the Met Gala 2015 on Monday night.

The 'Material Girl' hitmaker showed just as much cleavage as the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer in their graffiti-inspired outfits at The Metropolitan Museum of Art's 2015 Costume Institute Benefit in New York City to celebrate the opening of the China: Through the Looking Glass exhibition.

Madonna's floor-length dress, which came with a black cape, was covered in white writing which spelt out the name of her latest album 'Rebel Heart' and was completed by a pair of black leather gloves and a gold Moschino belt which she wore across her shoulder.

The 'Roar' singer's dress was covered in more colourful graffiti style writing.

Katy also unveiled a new short, cropped hair-do on the red carpet.

When asked what the inspiration for the pixie cut was, she said: 'I asked for the Kris Jenner.'

After the event Madonna, 56, and Katy, 30, were joined by fellow pop mistress Lady GaGa.

Katy posted a selfie on Instagram of the three of them and almost broke the internet, with a caption that suggested they would be releasing a track together.

The caption read: 'dropping our single tomorrow #stolethispicfromM #MONSTERCATREBELHEARTS. (sic)'

However, it was just a joke and there is no single coming out.

Both Katy and Madonna have had feuds with the 'Born This Way' singer in the past, but the Instagram post suggested they have put their issues behind them.

Both the 'Rebel Heart' singer and 'Fireworks' hitmaker attended the exclusive event with dates. Designer Jeremy Scott joined Katy, while Madonna came with music producer Diplo.

Rebel Heart Tour Madator Costumes: The Cape is back!

Madonna will take two Spanish Matador costumes on her next world tour, designed and produced by Daniel Roqueta in Utebo (Zaragoza). The design process has been done by email, acted through various intermediaries and he did not know who it was for until he completed the assignment.

Madonna decided to use him after seeing a design he made a local Bullfighter Paulita, one of his regular customers. A black and white image with a suit that he had prepared for the Feria del Pilar's in October 2014.

From that snapshot, which received the go-ahead personally by the singer, several pieces were commissioned through the web: a cloak that had to be black, with red and black flowers and the M of its initial embroidered on it, shoulder straps and suspenders for the dancers.
