Tori Amos has Madonna's back

Tori Amos believes people want to 'shame' Madonna.

The star has been making music since the late 80s and her sound is recognisable thanks to her unique lyrics and impressive piano skills.

While she may not be in the same genre as popstar Madonna, they share an age bracket and icon status. And Tori has leapt to the 56-year-old's defence, following criticisms after Madonna fell at the Brit awards earlier this year while performing Living For Love.

'Madonna is an entertainer. There are very few people who could’ve gotten up off that floor. It wasn’t because of her that she fell, but it was because of her that the performance carried on. Some of the vilification comes from women as much as men,' Tori, 51, sighed to British newspaper The Guardian.

'She’s making choices and she’s able to do things physically that a lot of people 25 years younger can’t; she got up and refused to allow that to shame her. I think people want her to be shamed into a role that they find acceptable for her age. It makes me sad that we can’t embrace Madonna and say, 'Wow, this is an artist who’s expressing herself in a certain way.''

Tori has had her fair share of malfunctions on stage, falling off her piano stool many times in her 20s and even performing on her knees due to a mic stand not staying up. She believes it takes something special to carry on after a blip and that people should admire Madonna's agility, even if they don't agree with her 'sexuality'.

Madonna's rep denies star's play texting

Madonna's representative is dismissing reports the singer was not invited backstage at hip-hop stage show Hamilton because she was allegedly caught texting throughout the performance.

The pop superstar was in the audience for a performance of the musical in New York City on Saturday, when she was reportedly called out by star/writer Lin-Manuel Miranda as he hosted a charity auction at the end of the show.

'Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage #noselfieforyou,' Miranda tweeted

The message was later deleted, but editors at the New York Daily News reported that Miranda was referring to Madonna.

'It's not true. She was invited backstage four different times. She texted post show when they were doing their fundraising pitch. Madonna had already made a generous donation.'

Madonna is given 'backstage ban' after tweeting during show

Madonna has been slapped with a backstage ban due to her lack of theatre etiquette, according to reports.

The Queen of Pop had attended the evening performance of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s acclaimed off-Broadway musical Hamilton, but was not invited to meet the cast afterwards because she kept using her phone during the show, reported Playbill.com.

Lin-Manuel tweeted a post, which was later deleted: 'Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage. #noselfieforyou.'

A source told Playbill.com that the singer arrived late to the performance at The Public Theatre’s Newman Theatre, and was seen using her phone throughout the first and second acts.

The Emmy-winning actor is well-known for taking celebrities, including First Lady Michelle Obama, backstage for a post-show picture with the cast.

Madonna has not mentioned the snub or referred to the show on Twitter.

This isn’t the first time the Grammy-winning singer has been in trouble over her phone etiquette.

She was banned from Alamo Drafthouse cinemas in October 2013, after reports that she was texting during a New York Film Festival screening of 12 Years A Slave.

Madonna Deletes Margaret Thatcher Message

Madonna has deleted an image of Margaret Thatcher from her Instagram account after fans blasted her for praising the controversial former UK Prime Minister.

The Like A Virgin hitmaker posted a picture alongside one of the late politician's famous quotes - 'If you set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing' - and added the caption, 'Thank you Margaret Thatcher! #unapolgetic #rebelheart'.

After posting the image, the star faced a backlash from followers who slammed her for lauding Thatcher, who was infamous for her divisive policies, which prompted both praise and vitriol following her death in 2013.

Madonna did not comment on the controversy but removed the photo and later posted a racy image of herself in underwear surrounded by roses, alongside the caption, 'He sent me roses begging my forgiveness. I said I'd think about it. These guys....'

Earlier this year, the star was blasted for sharing images of iconic leaders including Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela with their faces bound with black wire to replicate the cover of her latest album, Rebel Heart.

Jamie Foxx: Madonna loves my little girl

Madonna thinks Jamie Foxx's daughter has 'good taste' after the youngster praised her Grammys performance.

In February, Annalise was Jamie's special guest to the annual music ceremony in Los Angeles, where she mingled with A-list stars including Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Jay Z.

But it was pop legend Madonna the little girl was most excited about seeing face to face.

'What's crazy about this is, is that she wanted to meet Madonna more than anybody that night. Because she saw the performance and she said, 'Dad, I gotta meet Madonna because I love her performance,' and I said, 'She's right up there,'' Jamie recalled to Jimmy Kimmel. 'So she goes up to Madonna and says, 'I think your performance was the best,' and she [Madonna] says, 'Why do you like it?' 'Because you guys had the horns, so I think you were the best.' And you know what Madonna said? 'Good taste.''

The 56-year-old singer performed her track Living For Love, with scantily clad male backing dancers wearing sparkling silver masks and black horns on their heads.

Annalise has a photo gallery to treasure forever following that evening, and in each snap she pulled the same pose, where her arms are crossed and fingers pointed out.

'She's six... My daughter trademarked it, that's her thing. She's been doing it since she was like two and a half, three. She just came out the womb like, 'I'm here!'' he screeched, pulling the pose.

Jamie also touched upon his career as a musician and actor. He always dreamt of getting into music, but "just fell into the movies and just fell into winning an Oscar" he joked, referring to his best actor Academy Award for Ray.

Madonna: Hooray For Refusing To Turn Your Sexy Off At 56!

Madonna - you’re absolutely right to stay and act as hot to trot as ever in your 50s. Who says that when a woman hits fifty she should shut off her sex appeal? Kiss Drake, show off your thighs, and ignore your age!

Madonna, pay no attention to anyone who tells you to act your age! When they say that, what they’re really telling you is that you should stop being sexy because you’re 56. That’s ridiculous!

You’re a beautiful, brilliant, talented woman who’s in amazing shape. You can still dance your a** off and in fact, you can still dance circles around women and men half your age.

When you surprised Drake onstage with a kiss during your performance together at Coachella on April 12, the internet was abuzz and some commenters were aghast. This was partly because Drake himself was so surprised by your bold move, and his shock was misread as horror.

But Drake, 28, himself has set the record straight and Instagrammed on April 13: 'Don’t misinterpret my shock!! I got to make out with the queen Madonna and I feel 100 about that forever. Thank you @madonna.'

I bet he does feel that way. Madonna is a groundbreaking legend and Drake gets that. She broke open so many doors for female and male popstars with her trendsetting, uninhibited style, behavior and hit records, that every musical star respects her and is in total awe of her.

To read the rest of the article visit: www.hollywoodlife.com Should Madonna keep her sexy on at 56? Yes No VoteView Results Polldaddy.com So why should you cover up, shut up and stop acting up, just because of old ideas about what women should be like over 50?

Drake: 'Don't misinterpret my shock!'

Madonna can’t catch a break. Even after surprising Drake during his Coachella set on Sunday night with a full-mouth kiss, some people couldn’t help taking shots at her.

'What the f–k just happened?' the MC asked after the smooch, seemingly wiping his mouth awkwardly following the unexpected face attack. The Internet asked the same thing, with some comparing Madonna, 56, to a Dementor and other soul-suckers.

But guess what? Madonna isn’t bothered by your hate and Drake feels blessed. On Monday, she responded with a simple truism about her decades of headline-grabbing stunts. 'If you don't like me and still watch everything I do, Bitch you're a fan'.

And Drizzy posted a snap of the kiss with the caption, 'moments to write home about.'

Followed by another one that summed up his feelings even better. 'Don’t misinterpret my shock!! I got to make out with the queen Madonna and I feel 100 about that forever. Thank you @madonna.'

25 Reasons Madonna's Blond Ambition Tour Still Rules, 25 Years Later

Madonna kicked off her Blond Ambition World Tour on April 13, 1990, 25 years ago this week. Besides offering the world Madonna in her absolute prime - as a performer and as an all-around focus of attention - Blond Ambition changed the pop-culture landscape.

Fans might be surprised to learn that it's not Madonna's highest-grossing tour; Sticky & Sweet, MDNA and The Girlie Show each performed better. And it featured only 57 stops. But it's still hugely important and might have done the most to define Madonna as a music icon - and here are 25 reasons for that.

More on Madonna's Coachella 'Big As Madonna' tshirt

Turns out the piece is made by L.A.-based Private Party, the brand known for comical graphic T-shirts, sweatshirts and bathing suits with sayings and song lyrics including, 'I Woke Up Like This,' 'Netflix, Nachos & Naps,' and 'Who The Fvck is Aubrey Graham?'. Ashley Tisdale, Emily Ratajowski and Tracee Ellis Ross are amog the many notable fans of the company's wink-and-nod gear.

So just how did Madonna's on-stage piece come to be?

'My dear friend works closely with her team so she put us in touch,' Private Party founder and designer Patrick Monahan told Pret-a-Reporter via text after the fest. 'After Drake released the 'Big as Madonna' track on his new album, we immediately knew it was something we wanted to make for her. We passed along the idea and her team loved it.'

The muscle tank is currently available on shopprivateparty.com for $52 a pop (an 'Only Here for Drake' sweatshirt goes for $79).

Madonna Gives a Surprise Performance at Coachella!

Madonna is 'Living for Love,' all right. Last month, she revealed to Us Weekly, 'The lifelong ambition I still want to fulfill is to go on a dream date with Drake - and only kiss him.' The 56-year-old pop singer turned her fantasy into a reality when she made a cameo during the 28-year-old rapper's Coachella set Sunday and they swapped spit onstage.

It started out innocently enough. Drake introduced his special surprise guest by performing 'Madonna,' a track off his latest album, If You're Reading This It's Too Late. That was Madonna's cue to make her big entrance, of course. She wore a gold grill and black tee emblazoned with 'Big as Madonna,' a line from Drake's song, on her chest. Madonna performed two of her hits, 'Human Nature' and 'Hung Up'

That's when Madonna went in for the kill.

With Drake sitting in a chair, Madonna hovered over him and stuck her tongue down his throat. He rolled with it as she caressed his chest, but when he tried to play with her hair, she pushed his hand away. Cameras caught Drake wiping his mouth and telling the crowd, 'Oh, s--t! What the f--k just happened?'

Madonna then shouted, 'I'm Madonna, bitch!' and left the stage.

The 'Ghosttown' singer made sure to share the makeout moment with her Instagram followers. 'No caption necessary ..........@coachella. #bestnight #bigasmadonna #bitchimmadonna,' Madonna wrote. She also Instagrammed Drake's reaction, writing, 'Dont touch the hair! Lol,' but later deleted the photo.

When Madonna’s Rebel Heart album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 last month, it continued the diva’s hot streak in the top 10, which has been going strong since her self-titled debut hit the region in 1984. In total, Madonna has earned 21 top 10 albums, including all 13 of her studio efforts. Among women, only Barbra Streisand has more top 10s (with 33).

Madonna's 'Lost' Nudes Back In Playboy

Madonna Is Set To Titillate Fans By Gracing The Pages Of Playboy Magazine Once More In A New Pictorial Of 'Lost' Nudes Taken Back In 1979.

The Material Girl hitmaker was 20 when she peeled off her clothes for a shoot with photographer Martin H.M. Schreiber, before she found fame, and four of the images went on to be used in the men's publication in September, 1985.

Now Playboy editors are revisiting the shoot by using a series of the black-and-white snaps for the feature Madonna: The Lost Nudes, which will appear in the magazine's upcoming May (15) issue.

The pictures will also be published in Schreiber's new career-spanning book, A Retrospective 1966-2014, which will be released in June (15).

Madonna and Jimmy Fallon Sing 'Holiday'

Madonna was a very special guest on The Tonight Show on Thursday and she kicked off her appearance by performing a fun version of her 1983 hit 'Holiday.'

The 56-year-old was joined by Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, who used classroom instruments as their accompaniment.

Wearing sunglasses, the singer delivered a classic performance, complete with a whistle and cowbell.

'How cool is Madonna?' Fallon said after the clip aired.

'I kind of sucked though,' Madonna said later. 'I forgot the words.'

For the next segment Madonna danced onto the stage wearing several gold chains and her gold grill for an interview with Fallon that included the Tonight Show host remembering a pelvic-thrusting dance move she taught him.

'I just want to apologize to my children for having seen that,' he said.

Madonna and Diplo Perform 'Bitch I'm Madonna'

The Queen of Pop ruled The Tonight Show on Thursday where she dished out a pumping version of Bitch I’m Madonna, with some help from Diplo.

The performance opened with Madonna backstage putting the finishing touches to her make-up, then busting into Diplo’s dressing room where the party had already started (he's surrounded by ladies, dancing. Of course). Madonna goes into full pelvis-thrusting mode as dance routines erupt in the hallway and into the studio audience where a screaming crowd awaits.

When it's all over, host Jimmy Fallon is on the floor clutching a vinyl copy of Rebel Heart and gasping for breath under a victorious Madonna.

Diplo turned up on five songs across Madonna’s new album. In an interview with Billboard back in December, Madonna discussed working with the in-demand producer and noted that he 'has a very strong voice in the record.'

Madonna Survives Destruction with Terrence Howard in 'Ghosttown'

We have yet to see a Madonna guest appearance on Fox's smash drama Empire, but the closest we have come thus far is the new music video for her latest Rebel Heart single, 'Ghosttown.' Yes, that's Terrence Howard, better known as Lucius Lyon, surviving the apocalypse and pointing a sniper rifle at the Queen of Pop before elegantly busting a move with her.

After waking up in the scourge of a nuked-out world, Madonna feels her way through the deserted society, I Am Legend-ing it up while Terrence Howard's brooding loner suspiciously looks on. Eventually the two humans come into contact, inching toward each other until clasping their hands and dancing the forbidden dance of the last man and woman on earth. 'Ghosttown' makes for a fitting soundtrack to the impressive choreographed sequence, although the image of a weary Howard proudly grasping the hand of a boy at the end of the video makes one long for a few seconds of 'Drip Drop' as well.

Jonas Åkerlund helmed the new music video after directing the clips for Madonna singles like 'Ray of Light' and 'Music,' among others. 'Ghosttown' is the second single from Madonna's Rebel Heart, which was released last month and was blocked from the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart by....the soundtrack to the first season of Empire.

A behind-the-scenes companion to the 'Ghosttown' video is currently available of Tidal. Madonna kicks off her Rebel Heart World Tour on Aug. 29.

Madonna uses Meerkat app to debut new video

Soon, there won’t be a social app left that Madonna hasn’t used to promote her new album. Live video broadcasting app Meerkat is the latest, following the star’s use of Instagram, Snapchat and Grindr in the campaign for Rebel Heart.

'Be here at 10am PST Tuesday for the world premiere of Madonna’s Ghosttown video!' explained a message on Madonna’s official Meerkat profile, which at the time of writing has just under 1,000 subscribers.

Meerkat launched in February as the latest app enabling people to broadcast video live from their smartphones to their followers on Twitter. It has since been joined by Periscope, an app owned by Twitter that fulfils the same function.

Madonna is the biggest star yet to use Meerkat, after a bruising few weeks for the app, which saw Twitter turn off Meerkat’s access to its social graph, then saw it plummet down Apple’s App Store chart following Periscope’s release.

It is unclear how Madonna will use Meerkat to debut a music video as the app works by the broadcaster pointing their smartphone’s camera at whatever they want to stream.

If Madonna is able to air pre-recorded footage it will be an interesting departure for Meerkat. Allowing users to stream pre-recorded video would give it different functionality in its battle with Periscope.

Madonna’s decision to use Meerkat may come as a surprise to some fans, since she is now one of the 16 co-owners of streaming music service Tidal, which is planning to use similarly-exclusive video premieres to promote itself.

Fellow co-owners Beyoncé and Rihanna have already debuted videos on Tidal before other services, but Madonna chose to make a 16-second teaser of the Ghosttown video available on Tidal ahead of its full premiere on Meerkat.

Madonna back on the front of Cosmo

Twenty-five years after first appearing on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine, Madonna has been featured once again on the cover of the US edition.

She revealed a few details about working with Kanye West in the May edition, which features four different covers of her.

The two superstars are both used to calling the shots in any situation, so when they teamed up for her new album Rebel Heart, it seemed inevitable that sparks would fly.

But while they couldn't agree on everything, she still appreciated the rapper's help, even if she didn't always take his advice.

The Queen of Pop told US Cosmopolitan of the collaboration: 'It's a little bit of a bullfight, but we take turns. He knows that he's walking into a room with a person with a strong point of view, and I do, too.'

'I listen to what he has to say, take it in, and he listens to what I say and takes it in. We didn't agree on everything, but he has good ideas.'

In the same interview, Madonna took issue with the suggestion that the music business had become easier for women over the years.

She warned: 'Don't be fooled, not much has changed - certainly not for women. We still live in a very sexist society that wants to limit people.'

'Since I started, I've had people giving me a hard time because they didn't think you could be sexual or have sexuality or sensuality in your work and be intelligent at the same time. For me, the fight has never ended.'

Madge also had something to say about her online haters, telling them: 'You can hide behind your computer or your phone and say whatever you want - you're not known.'

'Could you say it to my face? Would you say it to my face? I doubt it.'

Ghosttown Video Teaser on Tidal

Tidal has been busy Sunday! Just hours after Rihanna premiered her new track, 'American Oxygen,' exclusively on Jay Z's new music streaming service, Madonna has dropped a tantalizing new teaser for her upcoming music video for 'Ghosttown.'

The 16-second, black-and-white clip shows a ferociously clad female form (three guesses who!) running through a bleak, seemingly apocalyptic landscape. Images of religious and earthly symbolism (what appear to be an immaculate heart and animal carcasses, respectively) flash across the screen as the woman picks up speed, her long cape trailing ominously.

Madonna also posted this picture from the set of the Ghosttown video on her Instagram page: 'Shut up complaining beyatches!!#ghostown #rebelheart'

Gaultier: 'She's a miracle because, well, she's Madonna.'

In an interview with Associated Press, fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier talks about why he is leaving fashion, and of course about his work with Madonna:

Looking back through his four decades of creations he recalls the surprising origin of the bustier that first made him a household name in the U.S. - when a certain pop star from Michigan wore it on her 'Blond Ambition' tour in 1990.

'It was not Madonna who wore my first conical bra, it was Nana my Teddy Bear. And when I was six, I wanted to have a doll, but my parents didn't find it politically correct for a boy,' he said.

Madonna is still very much in his heart - and he defended her against ageist criticism that her fall in this year's Brit Awards showed that, at 56 years old, she should be hanging up her pointy bra once and for all.

'Why do they attack her because of her age, and they don't do it to men?' he asked.

'She got up as if it was nothing and to fall must have hurt a lot. She could have killed herself,' he said. 'She's a miracle because, well, she's Madonna.'

Madonna Is The Latest 'Rebel Heart' To Protest Instagram's Nudity Policy

Madonna has become the latest celebrity to challenge Instagram’s nudity policy, after posting a vintage topless image of herself on the photo sharing site. The 56 year follows in the footsteps of other famous users such as Scout Willis and Miley Cyrus who have called out Instagram for their rules regarding female nudity.

On Wednesday Madonna posted a vintage topless picture of her herself but it was quickly removed from the site for violating Instagram’s nudity policy. A day later the Queen of Pop posted another vintage topless picture taken from her 1992 book Sex.

But this time Madonna had censored the image herself, covering her nipples with a black strip. 'Why is it ok to show ass but not breasts?' she wrote. 'Drowning in the hypocrisy of social media #artforfreedom #UnapologeticbItch ❤️#rebelheart.'

Instagram's terms of use state that users must not post ‘nude, partially nude, pornographic or sexually suggestive photos via the Service.' So far Madonna’s picture has gained over 73,000 likes since it was shared by the singer on Friday.

Madonna isn't the only celebrity to fall foul of Instagram’s nudity policy. Miley Cyrus has also shown her support for the campaign dubbed 'Free the nipple' after she posted a topless photo of herself on the image sharing site, which was of course quickly removed.

But Cyrus followed up the image by posting collages of her head on a variety of different bodies showing her support for #FreeTheNipple. The movement has also been supported by Rhianna and Scout Willis, who last year took a topless stroll in New York to demonstrate that it was legal to walk topless in NYC but yet Instagram won't allow users to post images of breasts on the site.
