Lourdes Follows Madonna, Enrolls at University of Michigan

True Blue (and maize)! Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Leon, will be sporting University of Michigan's primary colors this fall, as she just enrolled as a freshman at the Ann Arbor college.

The 17-year-old eldest offspring of the famed pop legend is following in her mother's footsteps, as Madonna attended the University of Michigan in the late 1970s.

Lourdes, who is the Material Girl's one daughter with ex Carlos Leon, is registered in the university's directory as a student in the undergraduate music, theatre, and dance program, in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in fine arts in musical theatre. The New York City-raised teen chose to use her nickname of Lola to register for the college's communications.

Michigan native Madonna, who dropped out of the school before completing her degree to pursue her illustrious pop career, posted a photo via Instagram on Tuesday, June 24, showing some Wolverine pride. She shared a shot of The M Den, the University of Michigan's merchandise store in Ann Arbor.

'I think I'll stop in here!' Madonna captioned the photo. '#unapologeticbitch'

This isn't the first time that Madonna has visited the midwest college in recent months. In November 2013, she was spotted touring the UMich campus with Lourdes. 'I want my daughter to go to school there,' Madonna said of UM in 2012. 'I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place.' Born Madonna Ciccone, the Grammy winner attended the school on a dance scholarship, but left for New York City to chase her performing dreams, where she struggled for a few years before making a name for herself.

Madonna's Instagram: 'It's that kind of day!'

Madonna, no stranger to shock, is at it again, this time posting a picture of herself in a niqab on Instagram Tuesday.

In the photo, only the 55-year-old’s piercing blue eyes can be seen through a gold-adorned headscarf. Frequently confused with a burqa, the former only covers the face, while the latter covers the whole body.

'Its that kind of day! #unapologeticbitch,' she wrote alongside the image.

Madonna dines with Lourdes and Carlos Leon in NYC

All in the family! Madonna may have split from her ex Carlos Leon more than 15 years ago, but she met him for dinner with their daughter Lourdes just this week.

The trio reunited in New York City on Thursday, June 19, dining at Manhattan's trendy downtown lounge and restaurant, Beauty & Essex. Madonna, 55, arrived in a NYC-chic look, an onlooker tells Us, wearing a black top, black pants, and horn-rimmed glasses. See pics of Lourdes and Madonna through the years.

Madonna's eldest child Lourdes, 17, who graduates from LaGuardia High School this month, kept it casual in a T-shirt and shorts, and slung a backpack over her shoulder. Hunky trainier and actor Leon, 47, rocked a silver pendant on a chain over a blue T-shirt with a pair of jeans.

An observer tells Us that the modern family 'looked like they were having a great time," and spent the evening "laughing, joking, and enjoying each other's company.'

During their Beauty & Essex feast, the trio dined on basil pesto ravioli, the restaurant's take on a New York pretzel, salt & vinegar fries, kale and apple salad, and a crispy eggplant pizzetta.

One item was purposefully absent from their menu, however. An onlooker at the restaurant spills to Us that the Material Girl was asked before they were served if she had any allergies or dietary restrictions. As only she could, Madonna reportedly answered simply, 'Ignorance.'

Zendaya on fronting Madonna and Lourdes' Material Girl

Disney star Zendaya Coleman is the new face of Madonna's Material Girl clothing line.

The 17-year-old beauty, who is taking the reigns from singer Rita Ora, will appear in the 'Boardwalk Babe' adverts showing the American actress and singer on the famous Coney Island boardwalk in Brooklyn, modelling the line's cute summer collection.

Speaking of the collaboration, Madonna said: 'Zendaya exudes a confident, free spirit. We love having her as the new face of Material Girl.'

Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Leon, who models the Material Girl clothing and works alongside her mother, also gushed about the new model.

She said: 'I love how Zendaya makes her own style rules to fit her personality - that's who Material Girl is all about, being yourself to the fullest.'

Zendaya was thrilled to be chosen by the 'dynamic mother/daughter duo'.

She commented: 'Material Girl embraces having fun with fashion and being confident in your own skin ... and who does that better than Madonna?'

The 'Shake It Up' singer is also following in the footsteps of former Material Girls, singer Taylor Momsen and model Georgia May Jagger.

Zendaya's career is going from strength to strength and she is also set to play the late R&B star Aaliyah in a new Lifestime TV biopic, 'Aaliyah: Princess of R&B', which was announced this week.

Nile Rodgers: Working With Disclosure, Avicii, Madonna

Speaking to MTV UK ahead of a performance with his legendary disco band Chic at the Grand Opening of Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, Nile Rodgers gave us the scoop on working with his 'little brother' Avicii, why Madonna is a dream to collaborate with, and just who he wants to work with....

MTV UK: You mentioned Madonna; what’s one of your fondest memories of working on Like A Virgin with her?

Nile: That was really phenomenal. People don’t give Madonna the real respect and credit that’s due her, she absolutely is the single hardest working person I’ve ever worked with, and I’ve worked with literally hundreds of stars. Madonna shows up early, stays late, she’ll do every single task you want her to do and more. She’s the kind of person that you dream about. She brings the superstar thing and she brings a work ethic unlike anything you’ve ever seen. For me it’s like a dream come true. Probably one of the easiest records of my life I’ve ever made.

MTV UK: Who do you want to work with next?

Nile: That’s really impossible to say, because there are so many people I’m already working with and I like working with them so much that I continue working with them, like Pharrell and Disclosure, Sam Smith and Avicii.

Avicii to me is like my little brother, he’s one of the best composers that I’ve ever worked with, and Tim and I always make jokes that we wake up in the morning, we go into the studio and by nine, ten o’clock at night we have six songs. He’s already cut like 60-something songs for his next album, we were just together last week and he says, ‘Nile I’ve culled it down to 36!’ and then he says ‘Lets go write some more!’ I love people like that.

Madonna attends preview of Tupac B'way musical

One of Tupac Shakur's old friends celebrated his birthday by seeing a new play inspired by his music.

Madonna attended a preview of 'Holler If Ya Hear Me' in New York City on Monday, which would have been the rapper's 43rd birthday. Shakur died in 1996 at age 25.

The musical officially opens Thursday at the Palace Theatre. It uses Shakur's songs to tell an original story about two young men dealing with life and tragedy in a Midwestern industrial city. Recent Tony winner Kenny Leon is directing.

Madonna sat in the third row. Shakur's mother and show producer, Afeni Shakur, also attended.

'Holler If Ya Hear Me' uses some of the rap genius' well-known songs, including 'California Love,' 'Dear Mama,' 'I Get Around' and 'Keep Ya Head Up.'

Madonna's Daughter Reflects on Her High School Graduation

Madonna's eldest daughter is about to graduate high school - and depending on your age, this reference point might make you feel very old.

Lourdes Leon (Lola for short) is the first of the Material Girl's children to fly the coop (she's about to graduate from LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts), and on Thursday she posted a new blog reflecting upon this huge life transition.

'Happy summer to everybody reading this!' the post begins. 'I've been crazy busy lately. I just met with the Material Girl design team. Can't believe I was just starting high school when we launched MG and now I am graduating! These looks will hit Macy's when I am a college freshman.'

Lola then explains that she's already nostalgic for her high school years.

'Just to let you know, this is partially going to be an unoriginal blog post about how very happy and slightly saddened I am that my High School years are now coming to an end, and how I reflect upon the past four years and prepare myself for the real world.'

'So many things that have been a part of my everyday routine for the past four years now suddenly aren't and it's weird because so much more lies ahead - yet it feels almost empty to wrap up high school,' she continues. 'Of course I'll miss the friends that I've made and the family that makes up the drama department, but it's really beautiful to be able to see all of the people I dearly love and care for, people that I grew up with for four years, go on and pursue their passions, whatever they may be, and find their place.'

However, unlike many of her peers, Lola's already the creative head of a budding fashion empire, so of course she's going to discuss style!

'Looking back on the past four years of high school means looking back on unfortunate outfits I wore confidently to school (good for me),' she adds.

'Oh how I wish I could go back in time and urge my 14 year old self NOT to wear black rhinestone studded t-shirts with bloody skulls on them, purchased from really 'hip' stores (wtf is hip anyways). I like to reassure myself though, that I had to go through that awkward time of 'trying stuff out' to figure out what I liked wearing best.'

So where's Lola heading to college? All we know for sure is that mom and daughter visited the University of Michigan last fall (Go Blue!), as Madonna's from Michigan and briefly attended the school at one time. The pop star even told the NFL Network in 2012 before her Super Bowl XLVI halftime performance that she wants her daughter to become a Wolverine. 'I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place.'

Convict tells story of growing up with ‘older sister’ Madonna

Posing on the Lower East Side rooftop with his posse and their kooky pal, a diminutive Pied Piper figure known as Flaca, tough 14-year-old street kid Lamont Clarke tried to stare down the camera.

Clarke, 44, recognized his 14-year-old self in a recent Post article about Madonna’s early life in New York - he and his pals saw her as a big sister.

It was the spring of 1983, and Flaca, an up-and-coming actress, dancer and singer whose nickname was the Spanish word for skinny, had asked the teenage crew to join in a photo session at her building.

Just a few months after the shoot, she would be known all over the world as Madonna.

'You guys are my family,' she affectionately told the gang. 'Did you think I’d leave you out?'

As far as the streetwise teens were concerned, Flaca was their fun older sister - a bubbly confidante who played guitar on the sidewalk and grooved to the music that blared from her beloved boombox.

They knew she had talent, but never imagined she’d become an international superstar.

Three decades on, the early portraits of the pop diva have resurfaced in photographer Richard Corman’s book 'Madonna NYC 83' and were featured in a recent exhibition.

But it was only after The Post published an article about Corman’s work that Clarke, now serving a prolonged prison term for robbery, saw himself in the pictures and recalled the shoot.

French far-right brands Madonna 'Granny Gaga'

France's National Front on Tuesday branded Madonna a 'Granny Gaga' after the global pop icon became embroiled in a new row with the resurgent far right party.

Madonna had enraged the FN in 2012 by showing a video depicting its leader Marine Le Pen with a swastika over her forehead at a Paris concert.

She took another swipe at the party on Monday with a post on her Instagram account.

The post featured the front page of French newspaper Liberation from May 26, the day after the FN topped the polls in European elections with a record 25 percent of the vote.

The page shows a triumphant Le Pen celebrating the victory next to the headline, 'FN France'.

Madonna's caption read: 'Russia. Ukraine. Venezuela ...., now France?!!!!! #fight Fascism #fightdiscrimination #fightlynchmobmentality #fighthatred #fightforffreedom #revolutionoflove'

FN vice-president Florian Phillipot responded with a sarcastic suggestion Madonna was seeking controversy to court publicity at a time when her career has been eclipsed by the global stardom of younger rival Lady Gaga.

'In politics too, Granny Gaga has lost the plot,' Philippot tweeted.

Madonna sued over Hard Candy name

Madonna is being sued over her fitness brand.

The 'Hung Up' hitmaker has been accused by beauty and fashion company Hard Candy of maliciously stealing their name to sell exercise DVDs and apparel and the firm have filed a lawsuit in federal court for trademark infringement and unfair competition.

The case claims the singer began selling her goods under the Hard Candy name in 2011 despite a previous rejection from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Federal court papers obtained by RadarOnline.com state: 'Defendants' actions have caused and will cause Hard Candy, LLC irreparable harm for which money damages and other legal remedies are inadequate.'

'Unless Defendants are restrained by this Court, Defendants will continue and/or expand the improper activities alleged in this Complaint and otherwise continue to cause great and irreparable harm and injury to Hard Candy, LLC.'

The lawsuit also targets Madonna's manager Guy Oseary, but claims the 'Material Girl' singer is 'the driving force behind the infringing activity, taking credit herself for the initial selection and subsequent expansion.'

Hard Candy are seeking financial damages and for Madonna to stop using their name completely.
