Madonna To Perform At Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show?
Monday, 03 October 2011
Madonna will perform during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5, sources close to the event told SBNation.com on Monday. A spokesperson for the NFL declined to comment.
As you'd expect for an artist with her mass appeal, this isn't the first time Madonna's been approached about performing at the Super Bowl. In 1998, it was heavily rumored that Madonna would perform at Super Bowl XXXIII in Miami, only to have the plans fall apart before a deal could be reached. Likewise, Madonna was reportedly to headline the halftime show for Super Bowl XXXV, two years later, but backed out at the last minute.
The Super Bowl and its halftime show will be televised live on NBC on February 5th, 2012. Stay tuned for further comments from Madonna and/or the NFL as the news emerges.

I think I've read enough crazy posts on here to sit quiet. First off comparing Madonna to the Black Eyed Peas is like comparing North Dakota to New York state. Point being that Superbowl fans do enjoy mainstream artists - for example Justin Timberlake / Janet Jackson's performance.
The post that mentions Dem's and Republicans is more than likely referring to U.S. mainstream radios refusal to play Madonna's new stuff ever since her American Life album and video bashing Bush. Hopes are that America as a whole will revamp fond memories of Madonna and realize that we do love her and miss her on U.S. radio.
Having said all that, trying to guess what Madonna will or will not perform is useless. Anyone claiming to be a Madonna fan will fully understand that until she hits that stage no one knows what the set list will be. She may go all out nostalgic, perhaps mix up old with new or just go with singles from 2000 onward. Who knows and who cares. Just having her perform during the half time show is enough for me and I'll anyone listening and watching her perform ANY of her songs. :-D

some of you are so delusional. the gay inside of me is happy, but the average rational-thinking sports fan says "no". If most people didn't like the Black Eyed Peas last year, there's no way they are going to enjoy Madonna. I would love for it to happen, as it would be excellent promo, but she needs to stop trying to appeal to the average American market.
Doing something "GLEE"-esque would not work. What does this have to do with policital affiliations?

I think this could really work. She can re-invent her image to the amercian public and this can bring her back to mainstream america. Think about it... We all loved the GLEE episode of the power of madonna. .. if she did something very GLEE like for the superbowl, democrats AND republicans will love it! It would make them realise that this is the girl back in the day that you loved to hate, and now you just love to love because she's an AMERICAN! any songs of hers before the erotica era would be acceptable, american PIE would fit great!, ray of light, music, don't tell me, hung up, 4 mintues... all those songs would give a 'feel good' feeling to all the people who aren't fans or love her music, but are aware of her music.

OMG!!!..and what smart timing before the release of the new album...I hope she doesn't adopt a sports persona for the new album like the fighter persona from Hard Candy.

I live in Indianapolis and this would make my decade!! I so hope this is true...wow, what a huge get for the Super Bowl this would be. I get that she's maybe not going to appeal to the 'average' football fan, but this isn't your average football game either.
Now I just need to figure out how to get a ticket!!!
