Kylie ditched for Madonna in Priscilla Queen of the Desert

Priscilla Queen of the Desert is to have a few changes for its Broadway debut.
The West End show features numerous mentions of Kylie Minogue but bosses of the hit musical are replacing Kyles with Madonna’s name in the US version.
My mole tells me: 'Kylie’s not a household name in the States so they needed an equally fabulous gay icon for the show. Madonna was the obvious choice.'

Reps for Madonna’s film ‘W.E.’ deny it will be screened at Cannes

A rep for IMGlobal says a French report claiming the film would appear at the festival is false.
Madonna’s feature film W.E. will not be screening as part of the Festival de Cannes in May, according to IMGlobal, the sales agent that is handling the film.
While the French newspaper Le Parisien/Aujourd’hui said on Thursday that the film would appear at the festival, the Madonna-directed movie, which is currently in post-production, it is not expected to be completed in time for Cannes and is instead aiming for a bow on the fall film circuit.
Madonna is expected to visit Berlin next month to host a private screening of select footage for foreign distributors attending the European Film Market.
The official selection of films that will appear at Cannes won’t be announced by artistic director Thierry Fremaux until April.

Madonna's former trainer still talking about Madonna

Madonna's former personal trainer Tracy Anderson believes the singer has reversed years of hard work undertaken to make her body less bulky and more feminine.
Madonna's former trainer thinks the singer has reversed years of hard work to make her body more feminine.
Celebrity fitness expert Tracy Anderson - who has worked with Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomi Campbell in the past - explained she put a lot of effort into getting rid of the singer's bulky frame, but she now thinks the 52-year-old star is 'going back the other way'.
She explained: 'I reversed the years Madonna spent getting bulky and made her more feminine, but I think she's going back the other way now.'
'You just have to look at any of the other women I work with and you can see that's not what my method produces.'
After first being introduced to Madonna by Gwyneth in 2006, Tracy stopped working alongside her after three years and she is unsure as to whether she will ever be friends with the singer - who recently revealed she plans to launch her own range of gyms - again.
She added to Grazia magazine: 'Will we ever be friends again? That's a tough question. I don't have rivals in life, it's not who I am. I try to be a good person and I give a lot. Some people appreciate that and use it for the right reasons, and some people take from it.'
'I've worked for over a decade to come up with something that's my own work and my own invention and my own blood, sweat and tears. I think that's where the biggest sore spot is. I like to invent things and she likes to reinvent them!'

Kelly Osbourne is Madonna's new Material Girl

Forget Gossip Girls, Madonna has traded in Taylor Momsen for a new model to front her Material Girl clothing line - Kelly Osbourne:
Ms O has signed up to front the superstar singer's collection, which she designs alongside 14-year-old daughter Lourdes. It is expected that Kelly will star in ads for the brand and take part in promotional events.
A statement confirmed the news this week: 'Material Girl is thrilled to confirm that Kelly Osbourne is the new face for 2011! We will be sharing all the details on this exciting new campaign in the upcoming weeks.'
Momsen was the label's first spokesperson, launching the collection alongside the mother-daughter design pair at Macy's last year.
The move is another blow for the 17-year-old Gossip Girl, who was reportedly suspended from the hit show due to a run of bad behaviour. Her character, Jenny Humphrey, has been relegated from a series regular, appearing only occasionally during the current run.

Is Kelly Osbourne the new Material Girl?

Sunday Mirror gossip columnist Dean Piper published this story today about Kelly Osbourne alledgely being named as the new model for the Material Girl collection:

Kelly Osbourne has been chosen by Madonna to front her junior fashion brand Material Girl, I can reveal.
And I hear Kelly, who recently slimmed down to a size eight, has the queen of pop’s 14-year-old daughter Lourdes to thank. A close friend of the star said: 'Kelly’s always been a massive fan of Madonna and recently heard Lourdes idolised her, which she was very flattered by. It’s a huge coup.'

Prince and Madonna End Decades-Long Feud

Holiday, celebrate!
Fellow music superstars Prince and Madonna appear to have ended their decades-long feud.
The Material Girl, 52, was among the celebrities cheering on Prince's sold-out Tuesday show at NYC's Madison Square Garden. (Other A-listers in attendance: Jimmy Fallon, Donald and Melania Trump and an awestruck Leighton Meester, whom Prince serenaded onstage.)
During the show, an attendee reports that Prince, also 52, made a good-natured joke about the high price of Madonna's concert tickets. 'I know I'm expensive!' he joshed, then making a friendly call-out to Madonna by name.
Things were far less friendly between the pair, who briefly dated in 1985 and who dueted on 'Love Song,' a track from Madonna's 1988 Like a Prayer album.
Madonna sniped in an interview that Prince was a 'little troll,' and quipped in 1994 that he wouldn't eat during a dinner date. 'He was just sipping tea, very daintily,' Madonna said. 'I have this theory about people who don't eat. They annoy me.'
For his part, Prince slammed Madonna - and her growing brood of children - during a 2007 concert in London, sniping, 'I got so many hits y'all can't handle me. I got more hits than Madonna's got kids.'

Madonna 'likely' to present new film in Berlin

US megastar Madonna is 'very likely' to present extracts of her new film 'W.E' in a private screening on the sidelines of the Berlin film festival next month, organizers said on Friday.
'It is very likely that she will come to Berlin, but it has nothing to do with the festival. As far as we know, she is presenting her latest film on the sidelines of the festival,' said a Berlinale spokesman.
'She has rented a cinema for a private screening at the European Film Market (EFM),' running in parallel to the Berlinale, which runs from February 10 to 20, added the spokesman.
An EFM spokeswoman was unable to confirm the superstar's appearance but said she understood that excerpts would be shown in Berlin to a select audience.
Berlin daily newspaper Tagesspiegel reported that the screening would take place during the first week of the Berlinale.
According to another Berlin newspaper, BZ, the official premiere of the film is planned for the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The movie, directed by Madonna, alternates between 1936 and 1998 and is about two women with similar names, Wallis Simpson, the American lover of British King Edward VIII, and New Yorker Wally Winthrop.
The Berlinale was the scene for Madonna's directorial debut in 2008, when she presented 'Filth and Wisdom,' about a Ukrainian immigrant financing his dreams of rock glory by moonlighting as a cross-dressing dominatrix.

Ex-trainer slams Madonna for opening her own gym

Madonna's former trainer Tracy Anderson has criticized the Queen of Pop's decision to open her own fitness gym.
Anderson is disappointed that the popstar has opened her first Hard Candy Fitness gym in Mexico.
'I knew she was going to be doing it,' the Daily Mail quoted Anderson as telling Britain''s Star magazine.
'I could put my name on a gym and put them all over the world if I wanted to, but that would be irresponsible to what I do.'
'I think we all know when a celebrity is going to do something that is in an industry that they're not in, they're just doing an endorsement and that's fine.'
'But I think that you wouldn't want to go to a man who plays a doctor on TV to get prescribed something, would you?' the trainer added.
Madonna parted ways with Anderson, who was credited with sculpting her age-defying body, in 2009 after three years.
The decision to split comes shortly after the executive director of Madonna's Raising Malawi charity handed in his notice after falling in love with Tracy.

Katy Perry sparks holy row with Madonna

Pop saucepot Katy Perry has torn a strip off of Madonna over her habit of using religion to generate controversy.
Devout Christian Katy, whose parents are pastors, singled Madge out as she criticised pop stars for using biblical imagery for dramatic effect.
She said: 'For me, spirituality is something very important and I don't like it when people take it lightly.'
'At times, I don't understand why there are artists who play that card, like when Madonna gets up on a cross to sing.'
Obviously Katy doesn't have such a problem with the sexy side of Madonna's schtick though, judging by her own skimpy outfits and saucy image.
And it seems Katy doesn't confine her religious policing to the music world - because she's admitted getting hubby Russell Brand to tone down some of his routines.
She said: 'Russell has made very blasphemous jokes in the past, but he's making fewer all the time because he knows that I am very sensitive about this subject.'

Raising Malawi: Statement from Madonna

Madonna, whose Raising Malawi charity has made substantial inroads helping over a million children orphaned from the AIDS epidemic in that African nation, is stepping up the pace considerably on all fronts - especially in regard to her plans for building the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls.

Madonna issued the following statement:

I remain deeply committed and am more passionate than ever about helping the children of Malawi - especially the girls. In a country where only 33% of Malawian girls attend secondary school, I realize that the plans we had in place for the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls simply would not serve enough children.
My original vision is now on a much bigger scale. I want to reach thousands not hundreds of girls. I want to do more and I want to do it better. While I am grateful to all the people who have given me guidance and support up until now, we are in the process of implementing several changes and additions to the management of Raising Malawi in both the US and Malawi.
I am also working with Trevor Neilson and his team at Global Philanthropy Group to shift the strategies that we had in place so that we can accomplish our goals with more efficiency as we continue to consult with our government partners in Malawi. This is a larger challenge than I thought, but I welcome it. We are focused on an approach, which builds schools within communities across the country.
We are currently determining the size, location, staffing and curriculum of the schools. I will continue to monitor the process of reaching these goals here and through my ongoing visits to Malawi.

Neilson, whose company Global Philanthropy Group advises some of the world's leading philanthropists, was positive about the shift in strategy. 'Raising Malawi's new community-based approach will provide the opportunity for many more girls to receive a quality education. We are focused on ensuring the most efficient implementation of this new strategy in collaboration with Raising Malawi's partners on the ground.'
Neilson also noted the many achievements of Raising Malawi including the construction of a model orphan care center in partnership with Malawi's largest community-based organization as well as assistance to thousands of HIV+ children and caregivers through life saving medical treatments and daily nutritious meals and nutrition supplements.
Additional programming has also provided thousands of children and caregivers in the south of the country with access to clean water through the implementation of piped safe water and the construction of new boreholes.

Madonna searching for a new Material Girl

Madonna is seeking a new model for her clothing line.
The 52-year-old singer launched her Material Girl range - which is aimed at teenage girls - last year with 'Gossip Girl' star Taylor Momsen promoting the brand but, according to a posting on the company's official website, Madonna is looking for a new ambassador.
Next to a picture of 17-year-old Taylor an advert proclaims. 'Desperately seeking Material Girl'.
It goes on to add, 'Living in a material world and we need material girls. Looking for the hottest girl on the scene, she is never afraid'.
The posting encourages visitors to the site to vote for who they think should become the next face of the collection.
Madonna worked on the Material Girl line with her 14-year-old daughter Lourdes and admitted the youngster brought much of her own personal style to the collection.
She revealed: 'I think this line is absolutely an extension of her taste. We like to combine a plaid or a flannel with a lace or leather with lace or rhinestones. So we mix and match textures and fabrics and elements that are both masculine and feminine.'

Vanilla Ice: 'Dating Madonna was exciting'

Vanilla Ice has revealed that he dated Madonna when he was 24-years-old and she was 33.
The rapper admitted that it was 'exciting' to have a relationship with an older woman but said he ended it when Madonna published her 1992 coffee-table book Sex, which featured intimate photographs of the pair and images of her with other men.
'Going out with Madonna was exciting,' he told the News of the World. 'She was older than me and a great lover. She's still the oldest person I've ever been with, so it was an experience.'
'But I broke up with her after she printed that book because I was hurt to be an unwitting part of this slutty package. It was disgusting and cheap. We were in a relationship yet it looked like she was screwing all these other people.'
'I thought she was taking pictures and running round naked because she was like that. Then when the book came out I was so embarrassed and ashamed. It was a porno. She threw me in like I was a product off a shelf and I didn't appreciate it. That was it and I ended it. She said she didn't have sex with these men but it looked like she was.'
Vanilla Ice stars in the new series of Dancing On Ice, which starts tonight at 6.30pm on ITV1.

Madonna's Security Teams Help Police With Investigation

Madonna has been embroiled in a police investigation after a suspected thief plunged 100 feet (30 metres) from an apartment block and landed by the back door of the star's London home on Friday afternoon.
The Holiday hitmaker's $15 million (£10 million) Marylebone property was surrounded by cops after a man being chased by officials attempted to climb out of a window in the block next to Madonna's property.
He fell into a communal parking area just a few feet from the star's door and was admitted to a central London hospital, where he is said to be in a critical condition.
Metropolitan Police officers have referred the case to officials at the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), who will allegedly review footage from Madonna’s CCTV cameras, which are thought to have captured the horror on film, according to Britain's Mail on Sunday.
Madonna's head of security tells the publication, 'We have given the police everything they need. I can't say if it was CCTV film. I also can't say if Madonna was here at the time of the accident.'
The singer was in the U.K. capital on Thursday and was seen partying at Aura nightclub with her new boyfriend Brahim Zaibat, before leaving the venue in the early hours of Friday morning.

Madonna to buy stake in London nightclub?

Madonna has been in negotiations to buy a stake in a London nightclub Aura Mayfair.
The pop superstar met with Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes to discuss buying a stake in his company, The Aura Group, which owns several nightspots including Aura Mayfair.
An associate of the singer told The Daily Telegraph newspaper: 'Madonna sees it as a natural move. She has ambitious plans.'
The 'Material Girl' hitmaker is a regular visitor to the exclusive club - which is owned by Fernandes, events and motorsport entrepreneur Jonny Dodge and Supper Club proprietor Alberto Barbieri - and is believed to be keen to put her own influence into the venue.
If Madonna does become a stakeholder in Aura she will be able to count her ex-husband Guy Ritchie as a business rival as he owns The Punchbowl pub in the exclusive area of the city.
