Madonna Changed My Life Essay Contest

Madonna eyes Windsor jewels?

Madonna has reportedly taken a fancy to some of the Windsor jewels she had replicated for her royal film WE.
The 52-year-old star, who has been directing a film centred around Edward VIII's abdication from the British throne, was apparently spotted in Sotheby's trying on several pieces of the Cartier jewels Edward gave American divorcee Wallis Simpson, The Daily Mail reports.
Madonna is said to have replicas of the jewels - which are due to be sold by current Syrian billionaire owner Wafic Said - made for her movie, but has now apparently fallen for the real thing.
The singer reportedly has her heart set on an onyx and diamond panther bracelet estimated to fetch up to £2 million when it is auctioned later this month.
WE charts the life of Edward VIII's wife Wallis Simpson, who will be played by Andrea Riseborough, and will mark Madonna's feature-length directorial debut. James D'Arcy will play Edward.

You can't say her taste in jewelery is anything less than exquisite.

Hey, thanks Cornelius!! :) It is a good point isn't it?! And I think you could be right about the bad writing. Unfortunately, it does come across as bad research too.
Instead, it could have read: '...and will mark Madonna's second directorial effort for a feature-length drama.' -Slightly higher word count (good), but correct in facts (even better)... Hey! Maybe it could have gone on to add: '...for a feature-length drama, to 2008's Filth and Wisdom.' Clearing up the 'what was the first drama?' question...
I suppose if the nearby bar hadn't been beckoning to such an extent, perhaps the sodden old hack, might have been able to pad out the article even further with extra words and 'facts'. Although researching the latter would probably seriously impinge on valuable drinking time...;)

Yeah. Good point mate! ;-) ... seriously I agree with what you are saying. I think unfortunately journalists or articles have to fulfill a certain word count so they fill it with some blah to gain it. 'Feature-length' and 'directorial debut' give them four more words. Why bother trying to be a real writer when you can regurgitate something that has been said before. Its not bad research, its just bad writing.

How many 'feature-length' debuts is Madonna going to have? According to the rules of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a feature length motion picture must have a running time of more than 40 minutes to be eligible for an Academy Award. I'm not saying that any of Madonna's directorial efforts are going to win an Oscar anytime soon, but considering it's officially generally accepted that a feature length movie is anything longer than 40 minutes, doesn't that make Filth and Wisdom her debut feature, at 80 minutes running time?
PS: Is ANYONE going to write, "Yeah. Good point mate..." Or be generally civil or conversational with words to that effect? Or am I going to get the usual sycophantic lamblasting for daring to speak down about anything Madonna?!! Sigh...
