The Virgin Tour 25th Anniversary

Today is the 25th anniversary of the opening night of Madonna's The Virgin Tour. On April 10 1985 Madonna played the first show of the tour at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle.

madonnalicious reader Johnny has put together a montage of pictures and footage from the tour to celebrate it's 25th birthday!

alice

love it... though i didn't exist by then i love this early madonna but i prefer her new music, she's so cool!!!!!!!!

Alex

I agree with you tracy Madonna was much more inspiring and fun !!! I feel like sthg is missing in her music now and her shows are colder and soulless
She used to create new trends whereas now she seems to follow them (I've just watched the sticky and sweet tour...)
I hope you understand what I wrote (sorry I'm French)

Anna

The start of something special!

BLINKY BILL

WHEN OH WHEN OH WHEN WILL WE SEE THIS ON DVD? SHE'S PROBABLY HOLDING OFF CAUSE SHE LOOKS FAT AND HER MAKE-UP IS ALL OVER THE PLACE....BLESS HER!

Thanks for the treat! It's so nice to see then Queen in action in hear very early days of superstardom:-))
Tracy - I sort of see your point but I disagree with you though on Madonna struggling to enjoy her success and/or caring more today about how she looks. It's actually the total opposite. After this "organic" Virgin period, she took her sense of fashion very seriously all the way up to the Ray Of light period (arguably). That was part of the "Machine" and she'd offer the full package and in and out of the public glance. It's not the case anymore, Different times, different circumstances: she's got the fame, the succes and perhaps she doesn't need to impress anymore, there fore she only puts on a fashion show when she has an LP - or other projects - to promote (Most of the time, now, you'll see her in tracksuits or elegant black gowns...).

It sounds fresh like the very first time. There will never be another Madonna.

Queen of Universe.

tracy

what i meant alex-was that she was capable of dressing herself & applying her own lipstick(you see that on the video)-& i know she wanted fame-i remember the quote well.what i meant was-she was a lot more carefree then-hungry for fame & sucess-definately-but not sort of desperate like i find her a bit to be now-she actually seemed to enjoy her sucess back then.all girls wanted to be madonna-me included(i was about 12/13).she was so differant-she was wild & FUN!!!!now-i think she really struggles to enjoy herself-she seems so preoccupied with how she looks.shame!!xx

mario

she has evolved so much as an artist and as a person since then.

Jose

daniel

definitely my most favorite madonna period, so original and organic, luv luv luv the Over and Over number. Its the best. I watch it over and over again. lol

Carlos

This was a great opportunity to WB to release that show on DVD, including Burning up, Angel n the other lost song.

Pablo Cancino

I miss the old Madonna, who didint care how she look when she dressed and was spontaneus, wild and adventure, that curly girl who represented the middle class women who live in the streets of newyork, has had many lives and has done all kind of fantastic music, but she should reinvent herself and become as her daugther, and as she herself was, at least in music, her last songs are more rational than emotional, come on Madonna!!!, show us how a 51 years old woman can go crazy!!!

Aman

When will we ever see the 'Virgin Tour' on dvd??? Does anyone know??????

Aman

Love the 'Virgin Tour' - the world went Madonna Mad :-)

Alex

I'm sorry Tracy but even at this time all Madonna wanted was fame ('I wanna rule the world') and she had a French designer (Maripol) who designed and styled her during this tour
Madonna didn't look like that before. Black rubber bracelets, jewellery and crucifixes were Maripol's trademark
That's the Madonna I love though...

tracy

great memories of those times!!!madonna was such fun then!!!you could tell she dressed herself & did her own make-up & just didnt care-glorious!!!wish a better song had been used though-apart from that-great piece!!xx

michi

Hezekiah
