Madonna and Britney land top kiss honour

Madonna and Britney Spears' infamous smooch at the MTV Video Music Awards has been voted the top kiss of the decade.

Tobey Maguire's passionate embrace with Kirsten Dunst in 2002's Spider-Man came second in the rundown, while Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal's slow-burning snog in Brokeback Mountain in 2005 was named third.

Madonna's tears during photo shoot

Madonna burst into tears when she posed for Dolce and Gabbana's spring campaign.
The Celebration singer was photographed for the luxury fashion brand in a number of different settings, but when she had to pretend to read a letter from a loved one, the 51-year-old star was overwhelmed and started to cry.
Her friend, designer Domenico Dolce, said: 'She was really crying! It wasn't fake!'

Dolce & Gabbana 'feared' hiring Madonna for campaign

Top Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana had to think twice before approaching Madonna and asking her to be the new face of their luxury label, because they feared a business deal would sour their friendship.
Madonna was unveiled as the spokesmodel for Dolce & Gabbana's spring/summer 2010 campaign last year when black and white shots of the pop superstar, taken by noted photographer Steven Klein, hit the Internet, and the celebrated designers admit they hesitated at the thought of working with the Material Girl.
Gabbana tells W Magazine, 'There was a sort of fear on our behalf of asking Madonna to do anything business. We thought it could impact our relationship, and Madonna is one of the few people we're really in awe of. To have Madonna in our campaign is a dream come true.'

Madonna brings Like A Prayer to Hope for Haiti Now telethon

Backed by a choir, Madonna performed her 1989 single 'Like a Prayer' at the 'Hope for Haiti Now' telethon on Friday (January 22). She performed in the telethon's New York studio, as did Bruce Springsteen, Shakira and Sting.
The arrangement of 'Like a Prayer' took its cues from the original version's instructions to 'let the choir sing,' with the only non-vocal instrumentation provided by a guitarist and a keyboard player. It was a shining performance, with the choir serving as a perfect counterpoint to Madonna's vocals.
Last week, Madonna endorsed the relief efforts of the charity organization Partners in Health, donating $250,000 toward their work with victims of the Haitian earthquake. Partners in Health works to bring modern medical care to the world's poorest communities and it has had a presence in Haiti for 20 years.
'My prayers are with the people of Haiti,' she said in a statement on her Web site. 'I can't imagine the terrible pain and suffering they are experiencing. Sadly the depths of the tragedy are just becoming known and the need for our support grows more urgent with every passing moment.'
'I urge all of my friends and fans around the world to join me collectively to match my contribution or give in any way you can,' she continued. 'We must act now.'

American Idol Rocker Adam Lambert talks Madonna to Oprah

American Idol star Adam Lambert was interviewed on The Oprah Winfrey Show this week - here is what he had to say about meeting Madonna:

Adam may be recognized wherever he goes, but he still gets starstruck at times. When he met Madonna, one of his music idols, for the first time, he says his heart started racing. 'It was wild,' he says. 'I've looked up to her as a pop star, as like a creative being, my whole life.'
Their first encounter came about when Madonna's guitar teacher, a musician who plays in Adam's band, invited Adam to her New York City home. '[I was] in my best outfit. Put the tie on. Put the jacket on. Looked good,' he says. 'She came in in like no makeup, yoga wear. Just totally Zen. She walked into the room, and her presence is very powerful. She's very intense.'
Struck by nerves, Adam says he was almost speechless. 'I said: 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm just really intimidated right now.' And she said, 'Why?'' he says. ''Because I love you.' And she said, 'So love equals intimidation for you?' And I said: 'Yes, pretty much. Most of the time, I think, when I feel love, that's the way it manifests itself at first.''
Adam says Madonna offered a few words of advice about being a celebrity. '[She said], 'Just keep your eye on the prize and put your blinders up,'' he says. ''Don't get sidetracked with all the extra fuss.''

Madonna and Sean Penn's Chance Encounter

When Madonna and Sean Penn were spotted together at a tony New York City restaurant on Thursday, rumors swirled that the former Mr. and Mrs. Penn might be rekindling their romance.
Not so, according to Madonna's longtime publicist Liz Rosenberg, dismissing reports the pair, who divorced in 1989 after a stormy four-year marriage, lingered over a cozy, three-hour-plus dinner at Adour at the St. Regis Hotel.
'Madonna was at the St. Regis having dinner with friends,' Rosenberg tells PEOPLE. 'Sean stopped by the table to say hello. He sat for ten minutes and then left. Madonna continued with her dinner. That's all it was.'
Madonna, who has been linked most recently with model/DJ Jesus Luz, is divorced from her second husband, Guy Ritchie. Penn's wife, Robin Wright Penn, filed for divorce from him in August.

A-Trak dismisses Madonna collaboration

Pitchfork.com are reporting that A-Trak has dismissed the rumours that he is working with Madonna on her new album:

This week, reports have been circulating that DJ, producer, and onetime Kanye West sideman A-Trak would contribute production to the next Madonna album. Speculation started when A-Trak's buddy DJ Mehdi dropped the bomb in an interview with Dummy, and it's since spread.
But in a new statement, A-Trak debunks the rumor, explaining that Mehdi was just kidding the whole time.
A-Trak says, 'Those Madonna rumors started from a joke my boy DJ Mehdi made in an interview. Then it spread to Madonna fan-sites. Then the Daily Star fabricated a quote from me. Next thing you know it was on NME and MTV. I'm not opposed to the idea, but it's all fiction for now.

Madonna ready to rock and rap

Madonna is set to take a new rap/rock direction on her next album.
The 'Celebration' singer is working with both rap producer A-Trak and rock producer Brendan O'Brien - who has previously worked with Pearl Jam - and attempting to merge the two genres on the follow up to her hip-hop influenced 2008 LP, 'Hard Candy'.
A-Trak, real name Alain Macklovitch, told the Daily Star newspaper: 'It's my production, turned into song structure - halfway between rap and electronic and whatever else I listen to.'
Madonna, 51, is said to be set on making a track to match the success of Run DMC's groundbreaking 80s hit 'Walk This Way', which defined the rap/rock genre - and went on to spawn acts such as Korn, Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock in the 90s.
Madonna has a long history of working with hip-hop producers, including Pharrell Williams and Timbaland on 'Hard Candy', but she is also keen to play up a more guitar-heavy sound after spending time mastering the instrument and insiders say she's working on perfecting a balance between the two.
The resulting album could be released this year.

Roma people to give Madonna gold plaque

The self-proclaimed king of the Roma said Tuesday he wants to give Madonna a gold plaque to thank the singer for criticising discrimination against his people.
Madonna performed in Bucharest in August as part of her 'Sticky and Sweet' tour, and at the concert said she was 'very sad' because of the 'discrimination against Romas and Gypsies in general in eastern Europe'.
Self-declared king Florin Cioaba said the Roma wanted to show their appreciation for the US star's gesture.
'Madonna deserves great credit. She drew the whole world's attention to discrimination against the Roma,' Cioaba told journalists in the central Romanian town of Sibiu.
The plaque has been ordered from a jeweller in Italy and will be made from 24-carat gold, the Romanian news agency Mediafax reported.
Romania has one of Europe's largest communities of Roma, an ethnic minority believed to originate from the Indian subcontinent often referred to as Gypsies.
Last year Amnesty International criticised the Romanian authorities' lack of action to tackle discrimination against Roma, a problem it said was 'widespread and deeply ingrained in (people's) minds.'

Six Directions For Madonna's Next Album?

Madonna is currently at work on a new album, which is expected to be unleashed some time in 2010. She has stayed relevant in the music business by constantly reinventing herself, taking in new genres and musical experiments and making them her own. She is meticulous about how she selects collaborators, because they inform the sound of the albums as much at Madge herself.
One of the confirmed producers working on the still-unnamed work is Brendan O'Brien, who made a name for himself sitting behind the boards for Pearl Jam and has also helmed productions for Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, AC/DC and Aerosmith. Does that mean that the singer behind 'Like a Prayer,' 'Ray of Light' and 'Hung Up' is going to dive deep into the rock world and make a guitar-based album?
It's a possibility, though reports also have A-Trak (a Kanye West collaborator) and David Guetta (of 'Sexy Chick' fame) working on the album as well, which suggests that it's a combination of roots rock, futuristic hip-hop and whatever Akon makes. With that in mind, here are six directions Madonna could go in.

To find out the possible six directions that MTV think Madonna's new album might take read on at newsroom.mtv.com
