Blame it On Rio

The New York Daily News has published this article giving more information on the upcoming W magazine photoshoot by Steven Klein:

As if A-Rod didn't have enough to worry about.
Photos of Madonna getting hot and sticky with four Brazilian boy toys are about to hit newsstands.
Even as Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez battles allegations of steroid use, W magazine will debut a 45-page spread in which the kabbalah vixen of his dreams can be seen simulating (at least we think she's simulating) sex with a quartet of hunks.
The biggest slice of beefcake in the spread is 22-year-old Ford model Jesus Luz, who's rumored to have replaced A-Rod as Madonna's main muscleman.
The layout, shot by top fashion photographer Steven Klein, shows Her Madgesty, 50, half-naked in black lingerie, straddling one stud on a hotel bed while being attended by three other pleasure-givers, one of whom barely conceals his manhood with a towel.
Although not as explicit as her X-rated 1992 book, 'Sex,' the shoot marks Madonna's return to the sort of arty raunch she abandoned when she married British director Guy Ritchie and took on the airs of an English countrywoman.
The W portfolio, headlined 'Blame it On Rio,' gives prominent play to Luz, who reportedly accompanied Madonna to the Maldives in December. Last week, he was seen with her in New York, where he's said to have dined with the Material Mom and her children.
Asked about the nature of Madonna's relationship with Luz, her rep, Liz Rosenberg, said, 'I'm told they're kind of friends.'

Madonna to attend the Grammy Awards?

A commercial being aired for the 2009 Grammy Awards is saying that Madonna will be at the show. She is not listed as performing but maybe she is presenting an award instead?

The Grammy Awards take place this Sunday 08 February - check local TV listings for details.

UPDATE: 09 February 2009
Madonna did not appear at the Grammy Awards at all last night - so why she appeared in this commercial we do not know!

Madonna's UK tour dates sell out

Both UK dates on Madonna's Sticky & Sweet world tour have sold out.
Tickets to the gigs, at London's 02 Arena on 4 July and Manchester's MEN Arena on 7 July, were snapped up by fans just minutes after going on sale.
The tour, to promote her album Hard Candy, is the biggest grossing in history for a solo artist.
Madonna has visited Europe and both North and South America since kicking off the tour at Cardiff's Millennium stadium in August last year.

UK Magazines: Grazia

A Herb Ritts shot of Madonna has been customised on a tshirt by Stella McCartney for the Comic Relief - Red Nose Day 2009 charity. The tshirts are available instore at TK Maxx in the UK.

UK magazine Grazia (09 February issue) published this story about the tshirt in the latest edition - with Sienna Miller wearing the Madonna one.

Stella herself said of the tshirt: 'It's such a cute picture - Madonna looks quite childish and I think that everyone taps into their childish side for Comic Relief.'

US Magazines: American Photo

The 2008 Vanity Fair portfolio shot by Steven Meisel has been named as the Image of the Year - Commercial Work by American Photo magazine (January/February 2009 issue) - click on the images to enlarge.

Madonna has worked with a handful of photographers throughout her career to create a carefully calculated collection of iconography. Early on she collaborated with Herb Ritts, who polished her photographic image to a high sheen, establishing Madonna as a force in culture and fashion. Over the years, Bruce Weber, Mario Testino, and others helped her shape-shift her identity, always being careful to place her persona just outside the bounds of middle-class tastes but close enough so that her every move could be witnessed by her followers. Such is her genius.
Her most notable - and most interesting - work has been done with Steven Meisel, who photographed her for the cover of her 1984 album, Like a Virgin, and for a series of projects in the early 1990s. The most infamous of those was the 1992 book, Sex, made at the moment when Madonna's persona was veering from neo-punk to neo-Marquis de Sade.
Reuniting for the cover of Vanity Fair's May 2008 Green Issue, the pair updated Madonna's cultural status once again, turning the 49-year-old soon-to-be single mother into a lingerie-clad warrior, guarding the globe through the sheer power of her sexuality. In Meisel's beautifully rendered pictures, the Material Girl becomes an Earth MILF, demonstrating again the power of imagery to create seductive fantasy. Environmentalism aside, the issue coincided with the release of Madonna's Hard Candy album, and readers were invited to explore the hardworking entertainer's personal high-wire act.

Live Nation on North America and Australia tour

The touring industry is ebullient since Madonna has extended her Sticky & Sweet Tour for a second year, something she has never done. Madonna will perform 24-25 European concerts this summer beginning July 4 in London, ENG and the last one booked so far is on August 20 in Ljubljana, SLO. Paul Oakenfold is the opening act on all of the extended tour dates.
Sixteen concert dates have been released, and the London concert is the only repeat market from last year. The rest of the tour will include appearances in cities she has never performed in before, such as Werchter, BEL; Marseille, FRA; Hamburg, GER; Oslo, NOR; Helsinki, FIN; Tallinn, EST; and Ljubljana, SLO; as well as stops in Romania, Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria.
She has booked a few cities that she has not performed in for more than 15 years, inculding Madrid, SPA; Gothenburg, SWE; and Munich, GER. Shows are to be announced for Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Romania and Serbia.
Arthur Fogel, Live Nation's Chairman of Global Music and CEO of Global Touring/Artist Nation, advised TicketNews that there is 'no chance for a North American extension of the tour.'
'This new run of dates will further solidify Madonna's position as one of the top selling touring artists of all time,' added Fogel, the tour producer.
And despite reports in the Australian media that four concerts are scheduled for an September/October outing Down Under, Fogel said that there is no validity to the reports. Madonna has only toured Australia once - back in 1993.
