British event rider flies to America to teach Madonna

London's Astoria venue closes its doors

London's famous Astoria venue - where Madonna played her G-A-Y club night back in 2005 - is closing its doors for the final time today (Thursday 15 January) to be demolished to make way for the Crossrail project.

BBC News have a slideshow showing the venue (including the very 'unglamourous' dressing room Madonna used) at www.bbc.co.uk - and added Madonna's Ray Of Light to the soundtrack!

Anyone who was at that G-A-Y show celebrating the release of Confessions On A Dance Floor will have great memories of the intimate venue and that amazing night.

A sad day for music.

I've seen many acts at the Astoria and Madonna's appearance there was the best I ever saw. And, possibly, her best performance ever, imho. She relished the crowd, the intimacy, and genuinely seemed to love being there.

Ah, the good ol' days! Then came the horror of Sticky 'n' Sweet... :-O

I never got to see M here , but saw many others, and it was a great dance club will be missed ; (
