Special Guest Paul Oakenfold To Open All Shows.

MOST SUCCESSFUL CONCERT TOUR OF 2008 VISITS 22 MARKETS BEGINNING JULY 4 IN LONDON
Tour To Thrill Audiences In 13 First Time Stops for Material Girl

Madonna's phenomenally successful 'Sticky & Sweet Tour', already the #1 Biggest Grossing Tour in history for a solo artist, will embark on another series of shows beginning July 4th in London.
Stops will include appearances in never before played markets such as Werchter Belgium, Marseille France, Hamburg Germany, Oslo Norway, Helsinki Finland, Tallinn Estonia, Ljubljana Slovenia as well as stops in Romania, Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria it was confirmed today by Live Nation. Additional appearances by Madonna will include return visits after more than 15 years to Madrid, Gothenburg and Munich.
'This is a first for me. I've never extended a tour before. I'm excited to be going back on the road, visiting places I've never been and returning to places I love' commented Madonna about the new run of dates.
Raves around the globe for the tour include the London Times which remarked, 'In the premiere league of song-and-dance spectaculars, the queen of pop remains unrivaled and undefeated.' 'The choreography, visuals and live talent were world class and mind-blowingly well executed, intelligent and witty,' glowed The Independent (UK).
In 2008, the 'Sticky & Sweet Tour' was seen by 2,350,285 fans in 58 cities. With record breaking ticket sales everywhere, including 650,000 tickets sold in her series of South American dates, 72,000 tickets at Zurich's Dübendorf Airfield - the largest audience ever assembled for a show in Switzerland, 75,000 tickets in London and four sell outs in New York's Madison Square Garden (60,364 tickets).
'This new run of dates will further solidify Madonna's position as one of the top selling touring artists of all time,' said Arthur Fogel, Live Nation's Chairman of Global Music and CEO of Global Touring/Artist Nation.
Special Guest for Sticky & Sweet 2009, Paul Oakenfold has long been one of the most important - if not the most important - name in modern club culture. He has remixed The Rolling Stones, U2, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dog, Muse, New Order, The Cure, Massive Attack and even Elvis Presley, and produced The Happy Mondays. The two-time Grammy nominee is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the biggest DJ in the world. His new artist album, Pop Killer, is due out later this year.
Madonna's multi-Grammy-nominated CD, Hard Candy, debuted at Number One in over 37 countries.

Why is Madonna horsing around in Palm Beach?

It may come as no surprise to her millions of fans to find out that Madonna likes horses.
She's certainly got the legs for riding.
But polo ponies? Whacking little balls around with a wooden mallet?
Wait, I'm starting to see the appeal ...
Seems the freshly free Madonna may soon be watching a bit of polo at the hoity-toity, upper-crusty FTI Wellington Equestrian Festival at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
According to my old friend Sharon Robb at the Sun-Sentinel newspaper in Fort Lauderdale, Madonna has been working with British riding coach Daisy Trayford at the SF multimillion-dollar 14-ring facility.
Madonna was rumored to make an appearance at Sunday's $50,000 Equisport Agency Grand Prix. She was spotted by Dish Rag spies at the Equestrian Center this weekend, checking out the scene but mentioned she might not make an appearance in the stands due to press and photographers.
Our source says: 'Madonna was in a box with a few other adults at the table watching the horses jump. She had an orange hat on with her hair pulled back. I did not see any kids with her or A-Rod. I know that she is here for two weeks with her trainer.'
According to Robb's report, Trayford has worked with Madonna since she purchased two horses from Trayford’s Exmoor Eventing.

UK Magazines: OK!

The magazine however picked up on some other media publications who had labelled Steven as Madonna's latest mystery toy boy!

Raising Malawi: Impact Awards Voting

It's easy to assume that great achievements come easy to an organization with international scope and the support of a famous name. But the truth is that Raising Malawi needs your help. Right now.
The MySpace Impact Award means invaluable publicity that will generate a new tide of donations and volunteering.
But it won't happen if Raising Malawi fails to win a majority of votes. As of this writing, the tally is close. And there is not a moment to lose.
For the children of Malawi, the difference between life and death can be made in few minutes, in mere drops of water, or by just couple of dollars.
It can even come down to one single vote.
Please vote for Raising Malawi at www.myspace.com/impactawards right now, and every day through to Friday 23 January.
You must be logged in to MySpace to vote. If you don't have a profile, creating one is quick and easy.

Madonna herself has posted the message below on her Myspace.

Malawi is a beautiful country that has been absolutely devastated by disease, poverty, and insufficient resources. An entire generation of Malawian parents has been wiped out, and countless children continue to suffer and die needlessly every day.
But when I look at the people of Malawi, I don’t see a poor nation’s many problems. I see tremendous possibility. When I look into the eyes of the children there, I don’t see the mistakes of previous generations, I see the future of our world.
That’s why I’m asking you to join Raising Malawi and become an ambassador for Malawi’s children. Saving them means nothing less than rescuing our collective future.
We have no time to waste. Vote for Raising Malawi right now, and help save lives.

Madonna

British event rider flies to America to teach Madonna

British eventer Daisy Trayford is heading to Florida this week to coach Madonna for two weeks at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival (7 January-29 March) at Wellington, Florida.
Daisy, 27, has been teaching the popstar for two years with the connection starting when Madonna bought two horses from Exmoor Eventing, the business Daisy (née Binding) runs with her husband Richard.
'She had the horses on trial and asked if I would go down and help get her going on them,' said Daisy. 'The first year it was really busy. Last year was more difficult because she was on tour, but I was there most weekends, fitting it around my eventing.'
Madonna flew one of the horses, all-rounder Boris, out to America six months ago and last week he was joined by the second one, young eventer Sportsfield Silver Lining.
'As soon as he's there and settled in she wants me to go out,' said Daisy, who says she will probably get 24hr notice to fly out on Thursday or Friday.
Madonna has also bought two other horses from Daisy and Richard, who are at livery at Exmoor Eventing.
Daisy describes teaching Madonna as 'really good fun'.
'She's a dream pupil,' she said. 'She's very driven, listens to what you say and just wants to do it and improve. You can always get somewhere with someone like that.'
'When I started teaching her she hadn't jumped at all and now she can jump a course of 1.05m. Jumping and hacking are her two favourite things.'
Daisy says she wasn't startstruck when she started coaching the star, taking it as 'just another chore'.
'I'm pretty laid-back about things like that. She's very friendly and we have been to things like Christmas drinks and her 50th birthday party and met lots of stars.'
Daisy is not the first eventer to teach Madonna, as in January 2006 Horse & Hound reported that Madonna was learning from William Fox-Pitt and particularly enjoyed riding Moon Man, who was put down in December.

London's Astoria venue closes its doors

London's famous Astoria venue - where Madonna played her G-A-Y club night back in 2005 - is closing its doors for the final time today (Thursday 15 January) to be demolished to make way for the Crossrail project.

BBC News have a slideshow showing the venue (including the very 'unglamourous' dressing room Madonna used) at www.bbc.co.uk - and added Madonna's Ray Of Light to the soundtrack!

Anyone who was at that G-A-Y show celebrating the release of Confessions On A Dance Floor will have great memories of the intimate venue and that amazing night.

US Magazines: Us Weekly

The 12 January 2009 issue of US magazine Us Weekly featured a gossipy piece on Madonna celebrating the end of her tour with one of the Brazilian models that were featured in her W magazine photoshoot last month.

However the article was illustrated with a picture of a great looking Madonna in on that night out in Sao Paulo on Sunday 21 December.

UK Press: Daily Mail

Madonna's recent night out with photographer Steven Klein was featured in UK newspaper the Daily Mail yesterday. The article suggested that just because Madonna had straight blonde hair, red lipstick and wore a big black coat that she was copying Kate Winslet's look! Mmmm.

Timbaland speaks up about new album tracks

MTV.com published this report about all the rumours coming out about Timbaland's new album - including reports that a new Madonna track called Across The Sky would be featured:

You didn't read anything about them on these pages, but multiple erroneous reports about Timbaland's forthcoming 'Shock Value 2' album stormed the internet in the past weeks. Last Tuesday, the 'Hard Candy' co-producer got on the phone with MTV.com - which the reports were incorrectly attributed to - and set the record straight.
'It's funny,' Timbo said about the surprisingly detailed report, which claimed it was based on an advance preview of five tracks from the album. 'I'm surprised people are watching me like that. I am recording the album, but I don't know none of them joints, none of them songs. That's just bogus.'
As for an official track listing, the production wizard was mum - and he didn't confirm or deny whether any of the artists listed in the report will appear on the album. He did speak generally about the album's direction, however.
'I'm just revamping. I'm not even at a stage to say where I'm at. I'm not at a beginning, I'm not at a middle. I'm just zoning out trying to find a new sound I wanna attack, and I think I got it. It's something you never heard, something I never tried.'
'It might be something you might have heard, I don't know,' Timbaland added. 'I'm trying to figure it out myself. I'm just having a bunch of fun right now. I don't wanna go too left, but I wanna give them something different.'
Tim did say the album is coming in 2009.

Madonna tops 2008 world concert league

Madonna's Sticky and Sweet show was the highest-earning tour of 2008, taking $281.6m (£193m) worldwide, according to music trade publication Pollstar.
The lavish show, based around her Hard Candy album, featured a Ukrainian gypsy band, a vintage racing car and a 'virtual' duet with Justin Timberlake.
It also became the eighth highest-grossing tour of all time in North America, Pollstar said.
Celine Dion's gigs were 2008's second-biggest earner, taking $236.6m (£162m).
The Canadian balladeer's Taking Chances show visited 24 countries - compared to Madonna's 17 - and marked her first world tour for eight years.
Both singers' concerts were directed by choreographer Jamie King, who was also responsible for the Spice Girls' reunion tour.
Madonna also broke her own record for the biggest selling tour by a solo artist, topping 2006's Confessions concerts, which took $193.7m (£127.5m).
This year marks the first time that Pollstar has compiled foreign data on concert earnings.
The publication said fewer people went to concerts in North America during 2008, and those who ventured out were prepared to pay higher prices for their tickets than ever before.
The average ticket price in the US rose by 8% to $66.90 (£46). Top-tier tickets for Madonna's show cost $350 (£240).
'We've had a better year than we really should have expected, given the economic environment,' said Pollstar editor Gary Bongiovanni.
Timing played a part, he added, with acts that hit the road earlier in the year escaping the effects of the financial crisis.
'A-list' artists were also fairly recession-proof, Mr Bongiovanni added, and tickets have sold briskly for Britney Spears' comeback tour, which begins in March.
He also predicted strong sales for as-yet-unannounced shows by U2 and Springsteen, both of whom have new albums out this year.

TOP 10 TOURS OF 2008
#1 - Madonna - £193m
#2 - Celine Dion - £162m
#3 - Bon Jovi - £121m
#4 - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - £114m
#5 - The Police - £83m
#6 - Neil Diamond - £65m
#7 - Eagles - £61m
#8 - Andre Rieu - £53m
#9 - Kenny Chesney - £49.7m
#10 - Coldplay - £49.5m
