Chilean cardinal: Madonna rouses 'impure thoughts'

Madonna is causing 'crazy enthusiasm' and 'impure thoughts' on her first concert visit to Chile, a prominent retired cardinal complained on Wednesday, as he paused in a tribute to a late dictator to denounce the pop star.
Roman Catholic Cardinal Jorge Medina criticized the flamboyant singer during his homily at a Mass in honor of the late dictator Augusto Pinochet, who oversaw the deaths of some 3,200 dissidents during his 1973-1990 rule.
'This woman comes here and in an incredibly shameless manner, she provokes a crazy enthusiasm, an enthusiasm of lust, lustful thoughts, impure thoughts,' said Medina, the cardinal who was chosen to announce the election of Pope Benedict XV.
Hundreds of fans spent three days camping outside the National Stadium in Santiago to get good spots for Wednesday's concert, the first of two. About 60,000 people were expected at each performance.
One of those waiting in line, Roberto Lopez, told local reporters that he had quit his job in the southern city of Punta Arenas because his boss hadn't given him time off to attend the concert.

Police allow Madonna fans to sleep outside of National Stadium

Changing their initial position on the matter, police have given authorization today for Madonna fans to sleep outside of the National Stadium, where the queen of pop will give two concerts on December 10 and 11.
Colonel of Police Special Forces Jorge Fernández announced this measure after the musician's followers had previously been prohibited from camping in the area.
To accommodate the crowd, the avenue of Maratón which is parallel to the stadium has been equipped with port-a-potties and ambulances, and in order to get in the fans must first present their ticket to one of the concerts.
A 31 year-old psychologist from the city of Antofagasta was the first one to arrive to the special area early yesterday morning, after which other fan club members began to arrive and set up.
By Monday evening, some 60 people were already in line to get into the stadium, but later that night police evacuated them for not having a camping permit.

Buenos Aires: Sticky & (Slightly) Wet

Madonna played her fourth and final night in Buenos Aires on Monday night - the show was filmed for DVD and madonnalicious reader Ian sent in this report:

By the time Paul Oakenfold finished spinning a voice announced: 'This is a very special night, this concert wil be recorded for a DVD and a forthcoming TV spectacular, please collaborate with the cameras flying around and have the time of your life! Madonna is here!'
Then, an endless half hour of crowd roars, people dancing and clapping hands waiting for our Queen.
SUDDENLY as epic as it sounds, the sky turned black and a cold shower started. The show crew were running everywhere covering equipment, cameras and every lil´ thing on stage.
The crowd went crazy and was cheering every thunder flash and bang. What a storm! People started chanting 'WE ARE NOT LEAVING, ITS RAINING, WE ARE NOT LEAVING!'
Fifteen minutes later, a few guys started sweeping and drying the stage....a signature Madonna was ready.
The crowd was crazy dancing in the rain when the lights went off.
SHE WAS ON THE THRONE smiling and giving a hell of a performance again. WHATS NEW BUENOS AIRESSSS?!
SHE WAS FURIOUS, I CAN TELL! Even while singing 'Human Nature' she yelled: 'SOMEONE SWEEP MY FUCKING STAGE NOOOWWWWWWW!' Hahaha it was epic!
That kinky mood lasted until the end of old school, by the time she sang Into The Groove, the rain was over.
She had a great time, and you could see she was enjoying the crowd. People were crazy, jumping up and down. Singing along, waving hands for the entire show.
During 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina', she just couldn't finish the last verse....overwhelmed by the crowds. (Is that a tear on your face, Madonna?)
In a moment she just laid on the floor, the whole stadium was singing 'MADONNA, WE LOVE YOU, MADONNA, WE LOVE YOU' and, while laying on her back she replied with a shy voice, 'OH THANK YOU, ARGENTINA, YOU GIVE ME SO MUCH LOVE!'
Several cameras flying around and huge lights were installed all over the stadium to get a full view of the crowd. Those takes will come out just amazing, it was so wild, fierce, rough. Pure sugar. Raw sugar.
Request song: 'Like A Virgin' (by Tomas, a fan in first row....Who was asked if he was still a virgin, and then got a 'Okay, we´ll talk about that later!' LOL)

Madonna in wedding photos dispute

Singer Madonna is seeking more than £5m in damages from the Mail on Sunday for publishing photos of her 2000 wedding to film director Guy Ritchie.
A judge in London heard pictures of the event were copied 'surreptitiously' by an interior designer during work at her home in Beverly Hills, California.
The Mail on Sunday published 11 photos of the event on 19 October this year.
The judge found in Madonna's favour after the newspaper admitted breach of privacy and copyright.
According to Madonna's barrister Matthew Nicklin, the Mail on Sunday 'makes no attempt to defend what it did'.
The paper paid £5,000 for the images of the 'wholly private' event, held on 22 December 2000 at Skibo Castle in Scotland.
Lawyers for Associated Newspapers, which owns of the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday, could not be reached for comment.
Mr Nicklin said the singer was effectively 'ambushed', having been given no prior warning that the paper was intending to publish the photographs.
'If the Mail on Sunday had told her what they intended to do, the claimant would have sought and obtained an injunction.'
Madonna, who was divorced from Guy Ritchie earlier this year, is seeking 'in excess of £5 million, being the estimated value of the photographs'.
Mr Justice Eady has entered judgment in Madonna's favour on the issue of liability.
Further proceedings to assess the damages are expected to be heard at the High Court next year.

Such a thrilling show, with a lot more energy than the first one. The audience was really euphoric. A beautiful party.

We now need special committed fans from Santiago Local Area who have impressive collections. Fans who work in voluntary community projects and charities, especially ones that involve children would be an added bonus.

Urgent: Buenos Aires Fans Needed Now!

Madonna fan Izzy has this urgent plea for super fans in Buenos Aires area:

I am in Argentina right now and Nathan Rissman has asked me to join him on a mission to find the 4 biggest Argentine fans for the Madonna documentary.
They have to speak Engligh well enough to carry out a conversation and it would be great if they had a big collection as we would go there to film the interview in order to include footage of their collection.
The filming has to be done tomorrow (Saturday 06 December) as this is the day off between the 4 shows here. They also have to live in Buenos Aires local area.

Please email Izzy at if you are interested and include your phone number.

Madonna is new face for Marc Jacobs at Vuitton

Madonna in provocative pose is to embody the latest collection designed by US stylist Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, the French luxury house said Thursday.
Dressed in little but mesh stockings and head-spinningly high stilettos in the first pictures released, the diva of pop represents the designer's 'vision of the quintessential Parisienne' embodied in his 2009 spring-summer ready-to-wear collection for Louis Vuitton unveiled in October.
'I wanted the campaign to be very bold, very sensual and very atmospheric,' Jacobs was quoted as saying in a statement.
'To carry this off,' he added, 'we needed the ultimate performer - and for me, that is Madonna.'
Photographed in a smoky Paris 1940s-style bar touting the latest Vuitton 'it' bags, the just-divorced 50-year-old is shown striking provocative poses in very very short skirts and ethnic-inspired footwear and jewels.
The advertising campaign is to launch next February worldwide.

Estoy muy decepcionada por haber tenido que cancelar mi concierto de anoche. Realmente estaba ansiosa por comenzar el primero de los cuatro conciertos en Argentina. Madonna, a president and ex-hostage meet

Madonna met with a president and a former guerrilla-held hostage Tuesday at Argentina's presidential palace, where she filmed 'Evita' 12 years ago.
The pop star, in Buenos Aires on the Latin America leg of her 'Sticky & Sweet' world tour, showed up early for a visit Argentine President Cristina Fernandez - who was then meeting with one of the world's best-known ex-hostages.
Former Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt was freed in July after being held more than six years in jungle camps by leftist rebels from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. She was visiting Argentina to thank its government for working to free hundreds of other hostages left behind.

Tour grosses for North America announced

The 28 dates on Madonna's just-concluded North American jaunt grossed about $91.5 million and moved about 550,000 tickets, according to tour producer Arthur Fogel, chairman of global music for Live Nation.
The venerable performer wrapped the North American leg of her Sticky & Sweet tour Wednesday in front of 50,000 people at Dolphin Stadium in Miami. She then headed to Mexico City for shows Saturday and Sunday.
Counting her European run, Madonna is at about $207.5 million in ticket sales and on a pace to hit about $282 million when the Mexico / South America leg of the tour wraps. That would make Sticky & Sweet the top-grossing tour ever by a female artist or solo artist.
The tour, supporting her album 'Hard Candy,' concludes with three nights December 18-21 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
