4 Minutes is 5th most played in USA

This morning Allaccess.com/Mediabase the leading radio monitor in America is reporting that '4 Minutes' is now the 5th most played song in the United States!
The track is getting 6458 spins a week! Unfortunately this may be the peak the song only grew by +100 spins whereas the 4th most played song is getting 7463 spins and grew by +691 spins!
Nevertheless '4 Minutes' is doing incredibly well in the United States. Remember that this is Madonna's most played song since 'Die Another Day' 6 years ago!

Thanks to Micheal

She didn't promote it enough, just a couple of interviews on US television and a show in New York to a purely Madonna fan base, means she lost out to other singers like Mariah who appeared on Oprah and American Idol (which incidently gets 40million viewers plus a week) plugging their singles.

Clarification - it's only #5 (as of today) on Top 40 radio formats. It's not that high on other radio formats in the US. For example, as of today it is only #23 on Hot Adult Contemporary radio formats, and #24 on CHR/Rhythmic radio formats.

Top 40 radio formats are only one segment of all radio formats in the US.

This explains why 4 Minutes did not hit #1 on the overall Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US - that chart factors in airplay from all radio formats along with single sales. This also explains why 4 Minutes is only at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart, which factors in airplay from all radio formats in the US.

the R&B songs all get WAY more airplay because they get played on the r&b/rap stations as well as the pop stations. Madonna only gets played on the pop stations and very, very few r&b/rap stations.
SO, her airplay will likely never equal that of Mariah's/Rhianna's/etc who get way more spins.

b/c the good airplay didn't match up with the high # of sales exactly right...ALSO

I think this article should specify that it's only #1 on Pop radio stations. The song is not #5 overall.

Jack

how come it didn't get to No.1 in America

I know radio airplay is a big deal, and yet it still didn't get to No.1
