Madonna’s Trainer Dishes on Her Workout Routine

Madonna, with her personal trainer Nicole Winhoffer, opened the eighth location of Hard Candy Fitness in Toronto earlier this month, and Madge herself sweated it out to celebrate.

As for the moves, Winhoffer dishes on a normal workout with Madonna. 'We warm up always! I change her program every week. This is important to shock the body. Without change, you can't achieve results,' the superstar trainer reveals. 'We love to work on triceps, obliques, and of course, my favorite part - the butt! One of our favorite moves is the plank on chair butt press. We get into the plank position with one foot on a chair and the other leg bent with knee on the ground. Kick the bent leg back and return the knee to the ground. It's a full body move and a butt-lifter!'

One more must-have when working out with the pop legend - good music! 'The beat dictates my movement and rhythm for her program. One of my favorites is Offer Nissim’s remix of [Madonna's] Frozen,' Winhoffer shares. 'It is such a sick beat and gets our adrenaline going.'

Malawi government blocking Madonna's charity

The dream of American Pop Singer Madonna to carry out a number of charitable works in Malawi will remain in jeopardy if what a local newspaper has reported is anything to go by that the board of Non-Governmental organizations (NGO) has turn down an application by the pop star to have her Trust registered in Malawi. Madonna is linked to be the brain behind Raising Malawi Trust though other reports indicate that she is just one of the trustees.

The Sunday Times newspaper has quoted an undisclosed source from the Civil Society community in Malawi who has revealed that the Joyce Banda government is deliberately frustrating any moved by Madonna attributing the whole scenario as 'bad blood' between President Joyce Banda and Madonna.

'From the look of things, Madonna’s work in the country will continue facing challenges as long as the current administration continues to call the shots' the source is quoted as saying. The source further claimed that some top government officials have been pressing the NGO board not to accept Madonna’s application.

Board Chairperson for NGO’s Board in Malawi Emily Banda has since turned down the claims and revealed that Madonna own no single NGO in Malawi but rather is one of the trustees of a number of NGO’s including the Raising Malawi Trust. 'Let me mention that Madonna the musician does not have an NGO that applied for registration; rather, Madonna is one of the trustees in several organizations that applied for registration. One that I call that we have not registered is Raising Malawi Trust,' Banda told the paper.

She claimed that the trust failed to meet the required registration requirements. The NGO chief however could not completely rule out Raising Trust Malawi, saying they still stand a chance if they bring forward the other required documents.

Meanwhile, 380 NGO’S have been registered according to Banda. She has however asked all registered NGO’s to always comply with the country’s registration laws and failing which they will be fined or completely turned down.

Nile Rodgers: I want to work with Madonna again

Nile Rodgers wants to work with his best friend Madonna after revealing he’ll be making more music than ever after beating cancer.

The 61-year-old Chic star wants to team up with Madge again, having previously hit the studio with her on her Like A Virgin album.

‘I adore Madonna. If she ever wants to work, I am totally down,’ he said, adding that she had helped him kick drugs two decades ago.

‘For a gazillion years I have always said she is the hardest-working person I have ever worked with. She is the most dedicated. The most focused and I absolutely adore her.’

Rodgers stole the show at the Warner Music Group & Belvedere Brit awards after-party at The Savoy with a set featuring 45-year-old Kylie Minogue.

He also told fans to expect to hear a lot more from him in the charts after being given the all-clear from prostate cancer.

‘A little over three years ago I was diagnosed with extremely aggressive cancer and, I don’t mean to make light of it, but they were counting me out. And I thought 'You know, I’m going to do more music and more records than I have ever done in my life',’ he said.

Ariana Grande Praises Madonna's Attitude To Critics

Ariana Grande has vowed to 'become stronger' in the music industry, citing Madonna as her idol when it comes to her attitude towards her critics.

Declaring her admiration for 'Vogue' hitmaker, Ariana who recently split from The Wanted's Nathan Sykes, told V magazine:

'She [Madonna] is my idol as far as attitude. I just love how she stands up for what she believes in and surprises people by not eff-ing up when they want her to so badly.'

Recalling the some of the specific reasons why she 'loves' Madonna, Ariana continued: 'Know what I love the most about Madonna? When a bad review came out, she was the first person to say ‘F**k you.’ When someone said she sounded like Minnie Mouse, she crawled into bed naked except for Minnie Mouse ears.'

'It’s such a good attitude to have', Ariana mused before revealing how she is using Madonna's attitude in her own life. She said: 'It’s inspiring to me because there are times when I think I’ve been a weak, people-pleasing little mouse my whole life.'

'That’s what I am learning right now, that I have to become stronger in this industry. I’ve learned over the past year that you don’t have time to chase after every person who doesn’t understand you. The people that know me know that I’m a nice girl. My fans know that I’m a nice girl. My friends know that I’m a nice girl. And ultimately, that’s all that matters.'

Madonna hits out at Venezuelan leader

US pop icon Madonna has hit out at Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, accusing his government of 'fascism' over its handling of nationwide protests.

In a post alongside a picture of Maduro on image-sharing social network Instagram, Madonna accused the Venezuelan leader of human rights violations, while also condemning authorities in Russia and Ukraine.

'Apparantly (sic) Maduro is not familiar with the phrase 'Human Rights'! Facism (sic) is alive and thriving in Venezuela and Russia,' Madonna wrote. 'The Ukraine isn't far behind!'

Venezuela has been gripped by weeks of protests that have left at least four people dead.

Demonstrators are angry over rampant street crime, runaway inflation, corruption and bleak job prospects in the country with the world's largest proven oil reserves.

Maduro, who took office after the death of Hugo Chavez last year, has claimed the protests are part of a conspiracy to overthrow his government.

Madonna's Trainer Talks Working With the Icon

Celebrity personal trainer Nicole Winhoffer has worked with a bevy of stars, including Stella McCartney, Rachel Weisz and Abbie Cornish, but she's most known for working with the one and only Madonna.

In fact, Nicole and Madonna are opening their 8th Hard Candy Fitness club today in Toronto. But busy as Nicole is, she caught up with E! News to talk about her relationship with Madonna and all things fitness.

Nicole and Madonna met up in 2009 when she was working as a trainer on the Sticky & Sweet tour, but their real partnership came with the concept of Hard Candy, which opened up its first gym in Mexico City in 2010.

'Madonna stands as an icon. Her body, work ethic, and persistence is an inspiration to the people,' says Nicole. 'The gym is a place where people can experience the ‘Addicted to Sweat' workout that is inspired by the workouts I have been doing with Madonna for five years. I update the program every three months, so the gym always has fresh new content.'

And of course it comes as no surprise that Nicole had nothing but high praise for the music legend. 'She is the most incredible woman in the world. Her dedication, persistence, intelligence and work ethic are bar none,' gushes Nicole. 'I couldn't ask for a better workout partner.'

And what is one of Madonna's favorite ways to fuel up? Coconut water. 'Coconut water is key for potassium, glucose and sugar to keep her energy levels up,' says Nicole. 'It's an all-natural source that does wonders for your skin.' Excuse us while we start stocking up on coconut water, ASAP.

Oh, and if you're wondering if Madonna and Nicole are going to open up a Hard Candy gym near you in the states, there's hope! 'It's always an option that I definitely hope happens,' says Nicole. 'We have many other cities around the world lined up and we look forward to opening them very soon!'

Madonna: I get sick of my own music

Madonna has declared she gets tired of hearing her own music. The queen of pop revealed at the opening of her Hard Candy Fitness gym in Toronto, Canada, that she doesn't work out to her own hits, and she's fed up of hearing them.

Madonna told Entertainment Tonight Canada: 'I don't work out to my music - I hate my music! I mean, I'm sick of it. I love my music, but I'm just kind of sick of it. I like to hear other people's music when I work out.'

The 55-year-old singer is famous for her honed physique, but confessed even she has body issues sometimes. Madonna revealed: I have a love/hate relationship with my body. Some days I'm happy with it and other days....I wasn't born with Gisele Bundchen's body unfortunately, so you got to work for it - but it's OK.'

And the mother-of-four - who is dating 26-year-old dancer Timor Steffens - also admitted she isn't a fan of 'big bulky' guys. The Hung Up star said: "You need to work out. I'm not into big bulky muscles, but a little more definition would be good. 'I like a lean, mean, fighting machine!'

Madonna's workouts focus on 'shocking' the body

Madonna's workouts are tailored to 'shock' her body. The superstar's personal trainer Nicole Winhoffer - who has also worked with the likes of Rachel Weisz and Stella McCartney - says she has been whipping the ultra-toned singer into shape since 2009 thanks to a challenging custom-made fitness program, which is updated every week.

Nicole revealed to E! News: 'We work out six days a week, 90 minutes a day. I create a new program each week. Mondays we learn the new program together. We focus on new muscle groups, new music and planting the programs in our body. Our workouts are challenging, serious and always focusing on shocking the body!'

The trainer-to-the-stars and Madonna have just opened their eighth Hard Candy Fitness club, and Nicole insists a body like the 'Music' hitmaker's is achievable with hard work and dedication.

She said: 'Madonna stands as an icon. Her body, work ethic, and persistence is an inspiration to the people. The gym is a place where people can experience the 'Addicted to Sweat' workout that is inspired by the workouts I have been doing with Madonna for five years. I update the program every three months, so the gym always has fresh new content.'

The trainer also explained she adapts the singer's workouts depending on her concert routines. Nicole added: 'I watch her in action, learn as much as I can and apply them to our workout. I watch each concert and take notes to inform me for our next day's session. She is an athlete, no doubt. I pay attention to every detail.'

Madonna reveals plans for new album at fitness club launch

Madonna fans can expect to hear some new tunes in the future from the music icon with plans for a new album - but she's keeping a tight lid on the details. 'Yes, plans are in the works already. Don't ask me with who, it's a secret, top secret,' Madonna said coyly in a red carpet interview Tuesday night at Hard Candy Fitness club in Toronto.

In the meantime, fitness was top of mind for the pop superstar who paid a visit north of the border for the official launch of her luxury fitness brand in Canada. The Hard Candy Fitness Toronto club opened for business in October, joining international locations in Berlin, Rome, Sydney, Santiago, Mexico City, Moscow and St. Petersburg. In addition to the large-scale images of the Material Girl emblazoned on the walls throughout the facility, Madonna also has a hand in shaping the fitness routines with classes based on her daily workouts.

Madonna said dance has always been a big part of her shows and she can't imagine not having movement, dance and fitness being part of her work - a philosophy she's applied to her burgeoning fitness brand.

'I have fun working out and I don't think working out should be boring. And I think dance is an important part of a workout,' said Madonna, looking elegant in a sleek black blazer and skirt designed by famed Canadian duo DSquared2, accessorized with black and gold gloves.

'I used to run when I stopped dancing. I used to run and I thought it was so boring. So dance is fun because you can play music, you can move your body in every direction.'

A select few got to see Madonna in action as she led the cardio-based Addicted to Sweat class, which combines elements of high-impact aerobics with choreography. The session was closed to the media, but among the participants were 30 people who earned the chance to dance alongside the pop diva following several auditions.

'Just to have a window into that world, it's a once in a lifetime incredible opportunity. It's like being in a dream,' said class participant Blair Boudreau prior to taking part in the session.

Nicole Winhoffer, Madonna's personal trainer, said the star averages between 1 1/2 and two hours for workouts six days a week, a rigorous routine that involves fully body conditioning with multiple repetitions, ab and arm work and use of jump rope or basketballs. 'She's actually really consistent, really easy. She gives such good direction. There's no guessing. I know what she's going to like, what she's not going to like. She gives us very clear feedback and we move very fast. It's so amazing to work with her.'

So are there any Canadian artists on Madonna's workout playlist? When asked, she responded: 'Drake.' And would she like to collaborate with the homegrown hip-hop star in the future? 'If he'll have me,' Madonna replied.

Madonna's Instagram: At the Bryan Lourd Gala

New York got its Oscar party early as a star-filled Hollywood supper club took over Alice Tully Hall Monday night, with prime spots occupied by Madonna, Alibaba executive vice chairman Joe Tsai and Bank of America investment banking vice chairman Cary Thompson.

The magnet was Bryan Lourd, chairman and managing partner of Creative Artists Agency. The occasion: the Lincoln Center American Songbook gala that honored him.

Clearly Lourd, a board member of the performing-arts center, has a lot of friends. The gala raised $2.75 million, twice as much as last year, and had twice as many guests, said Katherine Farley, the chairman of Lincoln Center.

'I do consider myself the best friend of a lot of people. I feel it and I mean it,' Lourd said at the end of the program.

Gala chairman Adrienne Arsht made sure those friends were treated well, with a buffet dinner of wild mushroom macaroni and cheese and shrimp and grits. Guests relaxed in all-white banquettes, lounges and tables filling every corner of the hall and a tent.

Madonna posted these pictures and comment on her on Instagram page: 'Basking in the light of Bryan Lourd! Long live the King! #artforfreedom #revolutionoflove'

Fans vie for chance to work out with Madonna in Toronto

Jamie Madigan has been a Madonna devotee since his teen years when he was listening to 'True Blue' on cassette and watching the music icon perform during her Girlie Show tour stop in Toronto - his first concert in high school.

So when Madigan learned Madonna's Hard Candy Fitness was opening in Canada, the pop idol's connection to the luxury gym brand was his main motivation for enrolling.

'She's a smart businesswoman who from Day 1 knew what she wanted, went after it, didn't really listen or care about what anybody else said and just fought until she got. To me, she really hasn't changed that model,' said Madigan in reference to Madonna's career longevity. 'She's always aware of what's current, what's trending, what's hot. Just when people think she's maybe falling out or she's being quiet, then here she is coming out with something new.'

In recent weeks, the Material Girl has given Madigan added incentive to squeeze in additional training as the 37-year-old competes for the chance to break a sweat alongside Madonna during her upcoming Canadian visit.

She will be in Toronto on Tuesday for the official launch of the Hard Candy Fitness facility. The Canadian club opened for workouts in October, joining international locations in Berlin, Rome, Sydney, Santiago, Mexico City, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Madigan is among the hopefuls vying to fill 30 spots in the cardio-based Addicted to Sweat class that the pop diva will be leading. The classes were created by Madonna and are based on her daily workouts. Tim Anderson, Madonna's personal trainer from her 'MDNA' tour, will be making the final selections at callback auditions on Monday.

'I think about it every day,' Madigan said. 'It's going to be the experience of a lifetime, something I've always dreamt of but never thought would actually happen.'

Group exercise director Lori Kirwan said the class blends the best of the dance and fitness worlds, meshing elements of high-impact aerobics with choreography. The hour-long Addicted to Sweat class in Toronto comprises a warmup, cardio and intensive stretching, strengthening and toning work involving the use of towels. A component of the towel exercises involves placing them under the feet while individuals are in plank position and sliding in different directions, working the core and inner thighs, Kirwan noted.

Cyndy Love-Minns was an avid dancer in her younger days, and is no stranger to the audition experience, previously vying for a spot in the National Ballet School. Still, the 57-year-old was a bundle of nerves and excitement as she competed for a chance to work out with Madonna, making it to the final callback.

'To me, if you want to have someone inspire you, you want it to be achievable,' said Love-Minns, who is anticipating the arrival of her first grandchild within days. 'Me looking at somebody that's in their 20s or 30s and thinking: 'Well, I can never look like that again. It's out of my range.' But Madonna has looked after herself and is fabulous. She looks fabulous. And she's not that far away from me in age.'

Love-Minns said even if she doesn't make the final cut, she's happy to have reached the last stage in the process and pleased with the progress she's seen in her fitness, which includes losing eight pounds since December.

Kirwan said seeing the efforts of those auditioning for the class has been inspiring, including those who have devoted hours in studio to practise. 'As a fitness instructor, it's my dream come true to have people that excited,' she said. 'The way I'm looking at it, the process that they've come through to get to the point where they're at the final audition and can maybe dance with Madonna has been a really valuable experience in and of itself.'

30 years of Holiday, Madonna’s first UK Top 10 hit

1984: A song called Holiday jets into the Top 10 for the very first time (February 7th) – but certainly not the last. Madonna’s debut hit and signature song has been a Top 10 hit THREE times.

Can you remember a time before Madonna? If you can’t, and only know her as the global superstar she is now, there’s every chance you won’t know just how exciting, different and interesting this ragtag American singer with a kind of squeaky voice seemed when her ditty about skiving off work entered the Top 10 this week in 1984.

Sassy solo female singers were nothing new, of course and another young American lady named Cyndi Lauper was enjoying her first Top 10 hit with Girls Just Want To Have Fun a little further up the chart, but Madonna seemed to have something special from the start. Brutally honest and funny in interviews, her music was unashamedly poppy and devoted to having a good time and Holiday, now one of her most famous songs, perfectly encapsulated Madonna’s whole ethos: 'Awww, just have a day off, it’ll be fine'.

Little did we know that behind those bright eyes and kind of half-hearted dancing there was an ambitious workaholic, who would stop at nothing until she achieved global domination and, well, it didn’t take her very long.

Holiday had been in the Top 40 for three weeks before it finally clambered into the Top 10. It seemed odd that this happy, carefree record hadn’t been released in the height of summer and when it peaked at Number 6, Madonna obviously decided that wasn’t good enough – it was rereleased 18 months later covered in suntan lotion and in the height of Madonnamania, this time making it all the way to Number 2.

Madonna Dines With Punk Stars After Charity Gig

Madonna proved her dedication to the newly-free members of Russian punk collective Pussy Riot by reportedly dining with them in New York City following their appearance at a charity gig this week.

The pop superstar introduced Maria Alekhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova during the Amnesty International concert at the Barclays Center on Wednesday and made a speech about their activism and legal woes.

It has now emerged Madonna spent time with the pair following the concert and was spotted engaged in conversation with the Russian women via a translator at the Big Apple's Antica Pesa restaurant, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.

A source tells the publication, 'Madonna in head-to-toe black, fingerless gloves and a gold-and-diamond grill. She was in deep conversation with the Pussy Riot girls all night. She looked very interested in what they said.'

Alekhina and Tolokonnikova were jailed for two years along with their bandmate Yekaterina Samutsevich after performing a protest song against Russian President Vladimir Putin in a Moscow church.

Samutsevich's sentence was commuted in October, 2012 and Alekhina and Tolokonnikova were released as part of an amnesty in December.

Madonna, Pussy Riot speak at human rights concert

Instead of singing, Madonna and Pussy Riot spoke with passion about human rights issues at a concert for Amnesty International.

Madonna told the crowd of thousands Wednesday night that she received death threats for standing up for Pussy Riot, a Russian protest punk band, when two of its members were arrested for hooliganism after staging a protest in a Russian church in 2012.

'The right to be free, to speak our minds, to have an opinion, to love who we want to love, to be who we are - do we have to fight for that?' the pop icon said, answering her own question with an expletive. 'I've always considered myself a freedom fighter since the early '80s when I realized I had a voice and I could sing more than songs about being a material girl or feeling like a virgin. And I have definitely paid for and have been punished for speaking my mind and for sticking my neck out for this kind of discrimination. But that's OK.'

At the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Madonna introduced Maria Alekhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, who were released from prison in December and made their first public appearance in the U.S. on Tuesday. They spoke through a translator at the 'Bringing Human Rights Home' concert, telling the audience they were grateful to be free, but have to continue to fight to save others who are imprisoned.

Alekhina and Tolokonnikova, who wore T-shirts featuring cross designs Wednesday, thanked supporters for sending letters while they were in jail and Amnesty International for its mission to protect human rights.

'Thank you to all of those who are bold enough and who care enough to speak out against injustice and speak the truth,' Alekhina said.

The Moscow-based group, which features nearly a dozen female musicians, has been critical of Russian President Vladimir Putin and political conditions in their homeland. 'Russia will be free!' they yelled along with the crowd before they exited the stage.

While Madonna and Pussy Riot didn't perform, the Flaming Lips and Yoko Ono closed the more than four-hour event, while Imagine Dragons were crowd favorites with their Grammy-winning hit, 'Radioactive.' Lauryn Hill and Blondie earned cheers as they entered the stage. Hill kicked off her set - each act roughly performed three songs - with 'Ready or Not' from her Fugees days, while Debbie Harry was a firecracker when she sang 'One Way or Another' and 'Call Me.'

Amnesty International's 'Bringing Human Rights Home' also included performances from Cake, the Fray, Bob Geldof, Tegan and Sara, Colbie Caillat and Cold War Kids. It is the organization's first concert since the 'Human Rights Concerts' were held from 1986 to 1998, and included U2, Bruce Springsteen, Sting and Peter Gabriel.

#MDNASKIN: is this Madonna's new skincare line?

Thanks to Instagram, it's amazing what a tease celebrities can be. Take Madonna, who last night eluded to the fact that she's launching a new skincare line - or did we imagine that?

The 55-year-old uploaded a photo of herself draped across her bathroom floor with the caption: 'She's done for the day! Bath or shower? #MDNASKIN.' While some followers missed the point - 'I prefer a bath,' replied one - we saw through the hashtag and found a skincare line. Elusive, and perhaps not the right styling for a new beauty campaign (suspenders do not a skincare advert make), but nonetheless food for skincare thought, and an excellent marketing ploy.

With a perfume collection under her belt (inspired by Robert Piguet's Fracas), a chain of Hard Candy Fitness studios with her name across the door and a very public penchant for oxygen-infused facials by Intraceuticals (she owns, and tours, with one of the oxygen infusing skin rejuvenating machines by her side) we know Madge likes a touch of health and beauty.

But is she moving into the world of skincare herself? Click on the link spelt out in her Instagram teaser and you'll find your way to a Japanese skincare brand, #MDNA - which, says the landing page, will be revealed in Japan on February 12.

Rodgers: No more Madonna outtakes

Nile Rodgers has revealed that there are no unreleased tracks from his session with Madonna. The Chic guitarist, who worked with the Queen of Pop in the 80s on her album Like A Virgin, admitted she was very determined about the record's tone and sound during a Google+ Hangout with Billboard.

'I don't have any unreleased Madonna material because Madonna knew exactly what she wanted her album to be when we did Like a Virgin,' he said. The only song that I had any input of bringing into the mix was a cover of Rolls Royce's ballad Love Don't Live Here Any More. That was a final last-minute decision.'

The 61-year-old added: 'The way I make records, believe it or not, there are not many outtakes in my world. As Madonna would say, 'Time is money and the money is mine'. 'The tape cost money and things like that, so when we were making records we had to be very budget-conscious. The great thing about Chic is that we do it very efficient. Both money and groove-conscious.'

Nile, who scooped three Grammy awards at this year's ceremony, premiered his new single Do What You Wanna Do (IMS Anthem) and talked about the upcoming Chic album, which will be a 'pop record'. He also said a Chic-inspired musical is in the early stages of production.

Madonna video fest, symposium to be held in Bay City

She's nothing short of a polarizing figure - who happens to be from Bay City. This week kicks off a big push to reconnect Madonna with her hometown. 'You love her or hate her. I don't think that everyone approves of what she's done, but you know what? So what. We're going to have fun,' said Chris Girard, Bay County 6th Ward Commissioner.

That effort begins Saturday afternoon at the Bay County Historical Museum with a screening and discussion of the Material Girl's music videos. 'Starting out with Burning Up, the first video she ever produced, right through some classics like Material Girl, Like a Virgin,' said Gary Johnson, Rock 'n' Roll historian.

Johnson hopes this will help to reignite Bay City's relationship with one of its most famous natives. 'We're lucky enough that she came from Bay City, and I'd like the city to take advantage of that,' he said.

Johnson hopes that maybe this will lead to some of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer's personal memorabilia ending up in the museum. 'We would attract visitors from all over the world to Bay County, and there are a lot of economic possibilities,' he said.

Speaking of those possibilities - Girard is putting together a Madonna festival for May 31. 'I've got to get my Vogue down. We're going to do things like bring people in that want to dress like Madonna, she's got a great following,' he said.

The event will feature Madonna films at the State Theater, tribute artists, and a Madonna-themed tour around town - all while bringing in money for a variety of causes. 'We have programs at our organization Do-All that provide assistance, material assistance, so what better way to raise funds and raise awareness than to connect with the Material Girl,' Girard said.

This year's inaugural Madonna festival in Bay City will be a one-day event, but organizers have some big hopes for what might develop down the road. 'Someday, we'll be able to have her here for this large, week-long event and she kicks it off. Who knows? You don't know unless you try, and that's what we're going to do. We're going to try.'

The Madonna video fest and symposium begins at noon on Saturday. It's free, but seating at the Bay County Historical Museum is limited.

Madonna's custom crystal cowboy hat: All the details

Madonna brought on the bling for her instantly historic duet with Miley Cyrus for the MTV Unplugged special that aired Wednesday, Jan. 29.

While performing a medley of Madonna's 2000 hit 'Don't Tell Me' and Cyrus' 2013 smash 'We Can't Stop' during the Western-themed show, the two divas wore bedazzled cowgirl-inspired outfits. The most mesmerizing accessory, though, was Madge's black cowboy hat featuring 1,200 Swarovski crystals that took more than 30 hours to make.

The custom piece was designed by celebrity milliner Eric Javits, who worked with Madonna's stylist for the show, B. Akerlund, to come up with a glamorized version of the Western hat. Inspired by bucking broncos and rodeos, Javits arranged the crystals along the brim to create a sense of movement. 'The jewel embroidery infuses this classic American shape with couture elegance,' Javits says. 'And brings the focus to Madonna’s eyes.'

During the performance, Cyrus, 21, and Madonna, 55, dirty-danced their way through the duet, with Cyrus even spanking Madonna's butt. 'That was pretty f---ing cool, you guys,' Cyrus told the audience after. 'It sounds super-lame, but as a pop star it's pretty cool performing with Madonna.'
