Adele topped the list after an unstoppable year that saw her take home six Grammys and two Brits. Jessie J takes second place thanks to her relentless promotional tour, handful of endorsements and high record sales and media plays, coupled with some 3.4million followers on Twitters – while Rihanna is in third thanks to a long series of number ones and some very successful duets.
The research shows the power of the female pop icon in the 21st century, with Madonna, Cheryl Cole, Cher Lloyd and Pixie Lott joining the other girls in the top ten.
The cream of the pop crop is as follows:
10. Pixie Lott
9. Cher Lloyd
8. Jay-Z
7. Cheryl Cole
6. One Direction
5. Ed Sheeran
4. Madonna
3. Rihanna
2. Jessie J
1. Adele
The Pop Powerlist series will air on Monday April 9 at 12.00pm when the full top 50 will be revealed in a two-hour show on 4Music (Freeview 18, Sky 360, Virgin 330).

In my humble opinion, Madonna should be #1, and Adele should be somewhere near #6, and none of the other people in the top 10 should be in the top 10 or even on the list at all.
